University of Denver User Reviews and Ratings

Outstanding education

By K, Class of 2010, From Denver, CO

Agreed that this school should be ranked higher, especially after communicating with people from other universities. I completed undergrad at DU and absolutely loved the professors, campus, and overall experience. The school is very theoretical and really broadens your perspective on life. DU strongly encourages students to study abroad, something I wish I had been able to do, and students seemed to have a wonderful experience with that program as well. The campus is beautiful, safe, clean, and as others have said, extremely well regarded in Colorado. The students tend to take academic life more seriously than some of the party schools in the state, and I think this fact, coupled with the high price and location (the school is situated minutes away from one of the most wealthy neighborhoods in the state) aid in its prestigious reputation throughout Denver. I very much enjoyed my time there and the overall experience and professors were amazing. The critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills I gained have been absolutely invaluable. Keep the class sizes small. Hopefully the university will continue to attract top notch students who care about their education and brilliant professors who care about seeing their students excel. Would love to see DU move up the rankings. Go Pioneers!

Fantastic University & Area

By Dante, From Denver, Colorado

The University of Denver (DU) is a perfect place for those who love the city and/or mountains. I graduated from the Daniels College of Business which has a ton of career resources. They make the effort to ensure everyone has summer internships and jobs after graduating from college. The teachers I worked with are highly qualified and care about the students, are always happy to provide letters of recommendations, and help the students with connections across career paths. There are ample opportunities for part-time positions while in school, and scholarships are readily available as long as you are willing to put the work in and seek them out. There are even scholarship opportunities for those graduating from undergrad and wanting to continue their master's at the school. Plus, the degree programs are flexible, allowing the student to study abroad several times and at cheap costs if you have the right GPA. In addition, companies around Denver hold DU in high regard, more so than CU Boulder or CSU, essentially guaranteeing employment following graduation no matter your major. This year, the University has rebuilt several buildings, added new dormitories, and seen a ton of success from the new Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science building. There are a ton of fraternities/sororities/clubs to join. Plus, there are plenty of things to do in Denver. Down the street is Washington Park, a great location for outdoor activities and meeting people. The mountains aren't too far away either. Larimer Square and 16th Street Mall are great places to go, and you can get there through the free RTD pass/ light-rail. The Denver Center Performing Arts, Denver Zoo, Nature and Science Museum, and the Botanic Gardens. Also, there's a lot of great bars and breweries nearby!

Doesn't Care About Students

By Bb, From Denver

You spend way too much money for administration to have too many problems. You'll get different information based on who you ask because communication there sucks, if you can get a hold of anybody. Then when you talk to them about the difficulties they've been giving you they get rude and defensive and act like you're the dumb one. To be perfectly honest I would have dropped out from that school if I hadn't already spent over $50,000 in tuition. Unless you like being treated badly by people you're essentially paying, don't go here.

Should be ranked higher.

By John, Class of 2018, From Denver, Colorado

I will try to describe this in a way that doesn't seem pompous. The University of Denver should be ranked higher. My hope is that those who see this do not look at CU Boulder and think it is on par with the University of Denver. I promise you, as a Colorado native, and a person who has many friends and attended three different colleges, I am telling you this assessment is wrong. In fact, I did a project on University rankings while I attended college because I believed it to be bogus. The reason CU Boulder isn't ranked lower is because they are #9 in Aerospace and #12 in Environment Health. To give you a bit of background knowledge, the school has 35,000 undergraduates, and these two departments combined make up less than 250 students. The other departments are average or below average. Furthermore, the school is ranked where it is because of its location (which is probably one of the prettiest and nicest places you could live). If we took out those two departments, the University would fall to rank #189... You might be saying to yourself, but those departments probably aren't even at other schools? Exactly. Yes, it should give the school an advantage and should rank them higher; however, the rank currently means that Aerospace ranks #9 out of all the colleges. So even if there were only 9 schools in the country that offered Aerospace, the US Rankings do not take those into account, and they do not say they are last in that department. Instead, they say the school ranks #9 out of all the colleges, giving the University of Colorado a very unfair advantage. For all we know, the department could be bad, but still they rank the overall school way higher than it should. I only have so many words, so I will say that the University of Denver has a great business school, people are almost guaranteed a good job without even trying, and if you live in Colorado, residents know how prestigious the school is. This school is in a great area with fantastic weather. Great school.
