Curricula Descriptions

Full-time program

The Denver MBA is centered on four core challenges, not core courses, which run back-to-back for the entire 21 months of the program. The challenges are real-world projects and students work in small teams with a faculty adviser and executive coach. Integrated five-week modules serve as the classroom environment where students receive just-in-time learning. Concentrations are available.

Executive program

The 18-month Executive MBA curriculum is comprised of an integrated set of 24 five-week courses. Students progress through a lock-step curriculum as a group, or cohort, bringing their own business challenges into the classroom. Business fundamentals, economics, executive leadership, innovation, global business and strategy are included. Experiential elements include a multi-day team-building immersion, an 11 to 13-day International Travel Seminar and career services appropriate to executives. The international trip locations are determined by cohort vote, based on over 40 choices worldwide and with a focus on emerging markets and developing economies.

Part-time program

The 21-month Professional MBA curriculum is comprised of 14 core classes integrating business fundamentals and professional leadership, as well as two electives for students to gain knowledge in specific career areas. Students progress through a lock-step curriculum as a group, or cohort, bringing their own work experience into the classroom. Experiential learning components include an intensive outdoor leadership experience in the mountains of Colorado, a global travel course working abroad with an integrated feasibility study, and a team-based final capstone consulting project with a local non-profit. More specifically, students are required to take courses in ethical leadership, business data and analytics, economics, accounting, finance, marketing, strategy, human resources, cost accounting, entrepreneurship, business law and public policy, and business statistics.

Part-time distance learning program

The MBA@Denver mission aligns well with the University's mission for student learning, which promotes learning by engaging students, advancing scholarly inquiry, cultivating critical thought and creating knowledge. The MBA@Denver curriculum allows deep engagement with content by using experiential learning of various types and by encouraging students to investigate their passions in business. Many of the classes encourage client projects related to the community. All classes teach students the value of making ethical business decisions and contributing to the public good. The ultimate goal of the MBA@Denver program is to produce graduates who are indispensable to their organizations. This includes producing graduates who embody the professional competencies, technical expertise, and innovative thinking skills applied to create shared value for organizational stakeholders. Specific program learning objectives, arising from this philosophy include: Technical and Business Knowledge-synthesize business concepts covering major functions in organizations to solve complex business problems; Communicate effectively in contemporary forms to interpret, analyze, evaluate and construct effective arguments; Refine a professional and ethical identity, and apply professional and ethical values to make effective decisions.

Specialty master's program

A specialized master's degree is designed to provide a deep dive into a specific discipline such as Accounting, Applied Quantitative Finance, Business Analytics, Management, Marketing, and Real Estate & The Built Environment. The curriculum operates at the intersection of academic rigor and market relevance with meaningful action based learning experiences and enriching co-curricular opportunities in each discipline.
