The best thing that happened in my life
By EN, From San Francisco, CA
Great value, even for out-of-state and international students. My time at UB completely transformed me.

Start here go anywhere
By Class of 2019, From Buffalo, NY
I graduate May 2019 and will be very proud to say I am an alumni of the University at Buffalo. During school I was a member of the University Honors College and the School of Management Honors Program. I pursued a degree in finance and was on the pre-medicine path. The advising, faculty, staff, and students challenged me to grow both personally and professionally. I am comfortable saying I graduate with immense opportunity, but admittedly these opportunities did not come without hard work. That being said, if you're willing to put in work, and are driven to succeed, UB will certainly encourage you to do so. It has the resources to propel you on the national stage and an alumni network (especially in the Western New York and NYC regions) that can help you stand out. And it's affordable!! Don't waste your money on fancy private label schools. I know people that go here that got into Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc. It won't make a difference if you go here or somewhere else and employers and graduate schools don't discriminate. If you have a burning need to put an Ivy league diploma on your wall or just want a crazzzzy party life, that's fine, just know you'll have to pay the tuition in the end.

The best value education you'll find in the Northeast
By Jon P, From New York, NY
UB is one of the most underrated universities in the US. Our sports may not be on par with the UCONNs or Penn States of the world, but you're getting the same top tier education as other large public flagship universities at a fraction of the cost. Some criticisms though: - Weed out classes. All the best fields UB offers are highly competitive to the point of ridiculousness. I understand the needs of delivering a top tier education, but I think it may be too difficult if the majority of domestic students in STEM are weeded out by junior year. - On campus clubs: because UB is a lower cost school, most on campus clubs do not really have a lot of funds to promote exciting events. It would be great if UB increased the fee by a small amount or decreased the amount of clubs somewhat so students can contribute a better experience. Small nitpicks however given how great my experience was. School of Management is fantastic and I've had a great career post degree. A life changing experience with tons of friends and relationships made while incurring no debt due to how low cost the school was. Easily the best large SUNY despit rankings. If you live in New York State, especially from NYC, make UB your primary choice (just so you can learn about NYS outside the New Yorker bubble).

Always getting better
By Michael, From NY
I graduated in 1985 and and impressed by how great it has come. Its a waste of money going to private schools when you have UB as an option.

Great STEM education
By SUNY@DUDE, From NYC
- Rock solid in STEM. Research around everywhere if you are motivated. - Good dorms, especially Greiner for Spohs. On campus apartments for Juniors/Seniors/Grad are very nice if your not on a super tight budget but you can cook and save $. - Off campus housing is cheap so you can save a boatlod of cash in years 3&4 and have that off campus experience. - Hundreds of clubs and activities. - Food pretty good for a big school. It is not Sodexo, so that is a huge plus! If you have a car, the Buffalo area has great food everywhere. - The price is right. - Should the NY flagship. We need something in the public space to compete with UMD, UCB, Michigan, UVA, etc. Splitting up the university centers into 4 locations was a dumb idea. - Buffalo is undergoing a Renaissance and has a great music scene and brew pubs. -Main Campus is real safe. South Campus is in the city so use your head and you will be fine. -Division 1 sports. The best defensive player in the NFL (Khalil Mack) played here.... I did a double take when I heard that when watching the draft. - The top 10% of incoming students have ivy stats but didnt get in or couldnt afford it so there hundreds of top notch students per class year around.
