Top tier education in a beautiful setting
By Joshua J., class of 1999, From UT
I attended the school from 1996-1999. It was a wonderful experience that I will always treasure. I enjoyed my professors, classmates, curriculum, the campus and area. The classes were challenging, and my fellow students were motivated, focus and competitive, while also being friendly and warm. It was a great mix of challenging and fun. I love the mountains and the nearby recreation opportunities. The setting of the campus, and the football stadium in particular, is one of the most spectacular in America, nestled right at the mountains. The curriculum was as rigorous as any other university. Of course, the BYU experience may not be for everyone. It is sponsored by the LDS church and has a strict honor code that each student is required to sign and adhere to. Some of the tenants of the honor code are a little archaic, but overall, the honor code boosts the quality of the student body and university experience. In return, the tuition is heavily subsidized. Those who refer to the honor code office as the "gestapo" and "tattletaling" have fundamentally misunderstood its purpose and stand in the minority. I never had a single issue with the honor code office and it was never a source of fear in my life. But I signed the honor code and determined to honor my word.

Great place to learn & grow
By Bryce, From Palo Alto, CA
I loved my experience at BYU. It's a beautiful campus with many great opportunities to learn and develop. It is a very a unique university compared to your average university. And if you can respect the Honor Code, you will appreciate the great environment it provides. If you want to get involved, there are countless clubs, intramural sports and other activities on campus to participate in. Go Cougs!

Gonna graduate with a lot left in my college savings account
By Debt Free, From Provo, UT
I could have attended a great university in my home state but haven't regretted my decision to attend BYU since I've received such a high quality education for so little cost. Yes, there are still a few misguided people here focused solely on getting married, but there are plenty who take their education very seriously. This is not the BYU of my parents' generation - it's a challenging academic environment that also provides great opportunities for entertainment, sports and social activities in a relatively safe setting. If you can get in, I definitely recommend it.

Top ranked university at the Best Prices
By KingD, Civil Engineering Class of 2011, From UT
The university is not for everyone. Cheaters, liars, fakers, etc. won't succeed in this university. They hold their students to a higher standard and do not show emphathy to people who blatantly break the rules. Its tough following all the rules. I don't deny it, but just like other laws in the country, it is meant to protect the entire student body. You will be surrounded by students who don't cheat, and so don't plan on asking anyone on helping you cheat. People who are caught are the ones who are disgruntled because they weren't shown liniency. Most of the students here speak more than one language as many of them have spent about 2 years in another foreign country. Cultural diversity is high and students are encourage to love thy neighbor. Best part about the university is that it is extremely cheap. To get this high quality of a university degree at a fraction (90 to 95% discount) of other university is unbelievable. There are many on campus jobs which would allow most students to graduate debt free. Parents, rest assure that this school is NOT a party school. No alcohol on-campus ever! So no crazy drunk party and people doing the wrong thing. There are still lots of wholesome activity for students as the BYU Student Association often comes up with cool events like the world largest Scissors Paper Stone competition, etc.

The quality for the price is amazing. There are so many pros and only a few cons (lack of parking). I did mechanical engineering and then an MBA with Penn state.

Great University and Great Foundation for the Future
By Intopia, From Michigan
I did both my Undergraduate and MBA at BYU. What an outstanding institution with a wonderful network to build from. It is also in a very beautiful location. Yes there is an honor code and yes it is affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but 92% of BYU students surveyed recently said they would go again. That is shockingly high for a university. If you have a problem with a school having a strict honor code, there are lots of other wonderful choices in universities.

An ivy-league education for community college price
By Aaron, Class of 2008, From Chicago, IL
I attended BYU from 2008 to 2014, and every class and school experience was phenomenal. I can still smell and hear the green and colorful campus on the side of the Wasatch mountains. I would recommend anyone at least try BYU, especially since it is so cheap. The after-graduation preparation is excellent, and is the best resource for preparing for a career.

Great School
By Class of 2010, From Nashville, Tennessee
The education ranking and college costs attracted me to BYU. It has some of the highest ranked accounting and business programs west of the Mississippi. After being offered a scholarship, I chose BYU because it offered the best experience form me. I was not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or the schools religious affiliation but made plenty of friends that I have kept in touch with over the years. Yes there is no alcohol and the party seen is usually taken off campus or even to a different city but there is plenty to do in Utah. If you like the outdoors, this is the place for you. I was always camping, hiking, fishing and of course snow boarding when the snow landed. The professors I had in accounting and business were some of the best in the country. I never remember having a professor turn me away because they were too busy. The open door policy at BYU is a true policy. Getting an education from BYU was one of the best choices I made in life.

A Steal of an Education
By Jake, Class of 2018, From Seattle, WA
Few, if any, other universities offer such incredible quality in an educational experience for such a small financial demand. In a world increasingly filled with graduates burdened by student debt, BYU ensures that its graduates are capable of reaching the end without a terrible financial cost. Most professors are both approachable and incredibly attentive to the needs of their students, it's clear they have an incentive to help their students succeed. The workload can be rigorous, but resources on campus are available for almost any imaginable need, be it academic or medical. Provo isn't exactly the epicenter of party life, but there is plenty to do when the need to get away and take one's mind off of studies arises. The emphasis placed on religious values is sometimes critiqued but it provides obvious benefits to the student body and the community at large (seriously, Provo is unusually safe and friendly compared to most other campuses located in highly populated areas). BYU is noted for the success with which its graduates secure employment. This is a University established on the principal of preparing students for their professional and personal lives to come in order to release generations of graduates who will positively impact the world. BYU doesn't use students to make a profit, they use profits to build students into successful, self-reliant citizens.

Top flight education
By hitechcpa, class of 1982, From San Jose CA
I thoroughly enjoyed attending BYU. Social, academic, sports, local area attractions, all unbelievable. What I did not anticipate once I graduated was the doors that my BYU education would open. I was offered jobs at every interview and had my pick of plum employers. I ended up working for a Big 4 accounting firm and went on to a Fortune 50 client. Each saw my BYU Acctg degree and commented about the quality of people they had experience with from that university. It still amazes me the doors that opened just to the name BYU.

One of the Best Schools!
By BT, From Springville, UT
I loved my time at BYU. It is one of the best deals in education that you can find. I loved my classes in the highly ranked Business School, as well as the General Education & Religion courses that all students take. The professors are highly qualified and the school makes a huge effort to provide opportunities for undergraduates to interact with professors, participate in research, and be involved across the University. BYU provides a ton of opportunities for students to get involved in clubs, symposiums, athletic teams (intramurals), and more. BYU's athletic events are well attended, especially football, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. Provo may not be a typical college town (it has 2 bars), but it has tons of activities for the student population, including a rooftop concert series, a great downtown area, and tons of recreation opportunities nearby--there are so many hikes, just minutes away from campus. Make sure this school is a good fit for you--most students are Mormons, and all students sign an honor code which prohibits drinkings, drugs, extramarital relations, and immodest clothing. If you're fine with those rules, you will love it here. BYU has a ton of dining options on-campus, including a traditional all-you-can-eat cafeteria by the freshman dorms, some fancy restaurants, and more casual fast food options (like Chick-fil-A and Subway). These are evenly located across campus. BYU is famous for its creamery, which makes amazing ice cream (Graham Canyon is the best), chocolate milk, and mint brownies. Most freshman live on campus, in either Helaman Halls (traditional dorms) or Heritage Halls (apartment style). Both have been recently built or remodeled. The entire campus is well-lit, has emergency stations all over the place, and the campus police does a good job in keeping everyone safe, too. If you're looking for a college where you can have a ton of fun and a great education w/out alcohol, sex, and drugs, this is the place for you.

Ivy League education despite online rankings
By Dennis 08', From Utah
BYU has top notch education programs, competition sports, and excellent state of the art facilities. Despite offering IVY League education at one of the lowest tuition costs possible, $5000/semester, it will probably never be ranked in the top three because of its religious affiliation. Students are expected to live by a moral honor code, that includes keeping a neat and clean appearance, avoiding alcohol, drugs, and sexual promiscuity. What a wonderful thing!
