The U has arrived academically.

Graduated back in the 80's (BA 84 & JD 87). The school was just getting on the radar as a sports power house, but was also planting the seeds for its academic future under the guidance of then President Foote. I remember seeing the slow transformation on campus. Both from the physical facilities perspective, as well as the influx of new professors. Recently, I went back on campus with my college bound son (still deciding as he has excellent options). WOW! I was shocked at how amazing the campus has become. The facilities are uniquely Miami from an architectural perspective ( i.e., based on the famous Brazilian architect Niemeyer which also designed Brazil's capital city). Modern, eco friendly and spectacular. The academics have improved dramatically, and the administration is focused on the students. The only issue I have is that, like many campuses across the country unfortunately, there is an ever growing tilt to the left philosophically. Granted this would be fine IF the administration provides ALL points of view for students. I hope they will. But I must say that the law school has not enjoyed the same success as the rest of the University. Otherwise, an amazing school.

More flexibility than anywhere else. Double major in your choice; i.e. music/biology; engineering/business, etc. NINE undergrad schools for only 11,000 students plus world-class medical center and law school.

UM is fantastic, easily #1 in FL

Best school in the state and I would argue the country. Beautiful, diverse campus with plenty of sunshine and happy vibes on campus. The opportunities are like no where else in the world. You can double, triple major or even more because the school wants you to have the education that fits you best. The faculty are excellent and with small class sizes you do not feel like a number. Easy internship opportunities in such a booming city like Miami. Loved every minute of my time there and hope my kids call UM there home too!!

Wonderful school

This school is absolutely wonderful. Great learning environment, beautiful campus, perfect size, lots of opportunity for internships in Miami, etc. I don't know any other school like it. Cognate system allows double or triple majors easily vs. wasting time on general requirements.

BEST AND MOST CARING UNIVERSITY - BAR NONE!

The deans, staff, and most professors really like you and treat you like a person and not a number. Class size is relatively small compared to other schools. After I graduated one of the deans came up to me and kindly asked me how I was doing, and asked me to stay in touch. Super kind dean I absolutely love - and there are other deans like this wonderful dean. I remain friends with University of Miami deans to this day. Others have said what I figured out: University of Miami is THE most CARING SCHOOL! Recently, even the chief justice of the Florida Supreme court said how very caring University of Miami is and how there is no more caring school. I already knew that. They do everything at their disposal to make life better for their students and alumni. I am so very happy with my decision to attend. University of Miami will proudly say, It is NOT a "nation." It is our FAMILY. That is not just a saying - but a truth University of Miami is wholeheartedly committed to. This is why alumni will mention they "bleed orange and green." University of Miami's kind and caring commitment to their students and alumni is not only felt by us, but we love our school back because of it. Best decision I ever made. Long live the 'Cane family and network!
