HIGHLY Underrated University

Geography has always been a major hurdle for Texas Tech, and I believe this negatively affects its rankings. There are a lot of assumptions made about Lubbock by people who have never been there. One trip to Lubbock and the campus, and I promise you will be blown away. The campus is stunning -- it's big, the second largest in the US -- and the city is 250K+, with a very clean and safe feel. The university is definitely on its way up regarding academics, prestige, and athletics. It's always confusing as to why several other Texas schools are ranked higher than Tech, when any mention of Tech versus the majority of the other schools in Texas gives you instant name recognition and credibility. Top Notch Education, Top Notch Experience

Wonderful college experience. Lubbock is extremely underrated as a college town. There was always tons to do and cool spots to check out. Campus is beautiful, especially in the fall or spring. I try to make return trips as often as I can. Even though I had a relatively average GPA in engineering, I immediately got a job with the #1 aerospace employer in the world upon graduation. I felt extremely prepared for my job in the industry from my classes and experiences at Tech. I wouldn't change a thing. Texas Tech is an incredible university.

Underrated Engineering School

Went to UT Dallas for a year before transferring to tech and tech is by far the better school! Not really sure how UT Dallas is ranked higher on here. Tech have better professors, recruiters (top companies in America), campus and overall a better environment. I do not regret one bit coming to this school!

Very Underrated Engineering School

One of the best kept secrets

Beautiful campus in a vibrant college city. The locals are friendly and love Texas Tech. Climate...Lubbock has seasons. Some snow in the winter but melts off quickly, sometimes in a day. Great school spirit and the perfect Gown/Town marriage. Highly recommend.
