Best Decision Ever

Attending Truman State was the best decision I have made. I learned a lot, was offered generous financial aid, and the community on campus is amazing. I am now pursuing a Master's Degree at Harvard, and am confident and prepared for the Ivy League. Become a Bulldog, it will change your life!

The place to learn

Faculty and support from this school are unbeatable in terms of willingness to help a student succeed in school and life. With the highest average ACT among public schools in Missouri, the students are among fellow scholars in their endeavors to learn. The students like to have fun, but their emphasis is on learning and not partying.

Great school!

Truman is an excellent school. The smaller class sizes and excellent teachers make for a great education. The cost to value ratio is also one of the best. Sure it is a small town, but that gives you even more of a reason to dive into all of the groups and activities available on campus.

Horrible experience

Greek life is huge because there is nothing to do in this tiny town. There is massive binge drinking on the weekend. Fraternity and sorority hazing is really bad. Truman lacks diversity. Most students are from a white middle-class Catholic background. It makes for a very boring and depressing experience. The town is completely lackluster. Kirksville has a lot of poverty.

Stellar institution

Truman stands out amongst colleges throughout the Midwest. There aren't many schools out there that compare to Truman. They call it the "Harvard of the Midwest" or "Princeton of the Prairie" for a reason. The courses are challenging, but the professors are interesting and supportive. The only downside would be the location (small town in MO), but I found plenty to do with my involvement in over 5 student organizations.

One of the best quality / Price Ratio in the States
