Two inquiries: Please define/explain "4-1-4" academic calendar. Please explain, in detail, what the "academic expectations" are for the Centre 4-year guaranteed graduation, including applicable GPA requirements. Thank you.

The 4-1-4 calendar means that in the Fall and Spring semesters students take 4 classes. The "1" is a January term that Centre requires of students. It's an opportunity to take 1 really unique and fun class for the 3 week term in January. This is also a popular time for students to study abroad. The 4 year graduation guarantee is part of the Centre Commitment (which also includes a guarantee for your student to study abroad and have an internship/research opportunity). The graduation part essentially just means that as long as you fulfill all academic requirements you will graduate in 4 years. I think the required cumulative GPA to graduate is a 2.0, but I could be wrong. Academic expectations would be maintaing that GPA as well as completing all required courses. Since Centre is a liberal arts college, this includes: 2 religion classes, a foreign language, 2 sciences, a math, etc. Centre makes this easy because you have a great relationship with your academic advisor from day 1 and are required to meet with him or her before scheduling classes each semester. Your advisor should ensure that you are completing all necessary requirements. As long as your student meets with his or her advisor and maintains a good GPA, he or she will be set. The 4 year graduation rate at Centre is well above the national average, its a wonderful college with incredible faculty and tons of amazing opprotunities. I studied abroad twice, had an internship, and graduated in 4 years!
