University of Florida User Reviews and Ratings
Great personal and professional Foundation.
By Chris 1991, From Miami, fl
I am lucky enough to have decades of experience to give you an invaluable review of UF. I spent 4 of the most formative and best years of my life at this school. I met friends which I am still together with today. The education is unparalleled in the state of Florida. But more than this, the relationships that were developed after college were even more valuable professionally. Since moving to Miami I have joined gator clubs down here. There are enormous referral networks and social gatherings that enhance your personal and professional life. Compared to the other public universities in the state of Florida, this is the single greatest advantage. Many of the lawyers and judges I appear before are Florida graduates. They far outnumber any other school. If you combine the top 10 education, social life, professional contacts, with the extremely low tuition rate, this is the best choice any young student could make. I wish you the best and Go Gators.

Best years of my life
By Alexia Class of 2000, From Tampa, FL
My experience at UF gave me a great future. I entered as a math major and was able to double major in math and stats. I found jobs easily and went on to get my PhD at a different university but really wish I had stayed at UF. This experience at UF opened so many doors and I had amazing faculty and mentors (Dr. Dennis Wackerly, Dr. Ronald Randles, Dr. Jim Hobert, Maria Ripol, etc.) who have remained friends for life. In my 40's now I really appreciate my time and experiences at UF 20 years ago.

Worst School By Far
By John Class of 2022, From Gainesville, Florida
If you're rich, went to one of the best high schools, and have had everything handed to you, UF is your school. If you want to be a business major and party, UF is your school. If you need to pay for everything yourself while trying to get good grades, without using study edge or smokin notes, so that you actually learn the material rather than pay for an A, UF will crush all of your dreams and leave you with a terrible GPA and advisors that can't help you figure out where to go next. Also, if you want to be involved you have to be willing to spend hundreds of dollars, if you need help from the teaching center it isn't there, housing is terrible cockroaches are everywhere and bathrooms are disgusting. I wish I never went here.

Gator Nation pride runs deep
By Chris M., Geomatics '01, From Dunedin, FL
I stumbled into UF out of convenience geographically about 25 years ago and since then have lived in Gainesville as a student, a young professional, and part-time as a spouse while my wife attended thus spending 10 of those years in Gainesville. The education is top notch, but just as incoming students are looked at for their extra-curricular activities, UF is stacked in many other ways: athletics, genuine college-town feel, community, and the network is invaluable throughout the state and I presume the country through the Gator Nation. Every UF alumnus I know is proud to be a Florida Gator!

UF is on an artificial pedestal
By AD class of 2019, From FL
UF May be a top 10 school but I would very much reconsider attending if you're a prospective student. I've never seen another school where students wait hours for counseling to give them the wrong information, where professors are as inaccessible, and where students are cast aside in favor of ratings so strongly. While I enjoyed my time at this school, it always plagued me that I attended. UF did bring me some of my closest friends, but it also gave me a lot of mental health issues that they have little infrastructure to combat. Certain programs are strong and have faculty that care about students but they're few and far between. I caution anyone who considers UF to weigh the importance of their mental health.

UF is only getting better!
By Luska, From Gainesville, Florida
UF is attracting more and more top students from around the US with the Benacquisto Scholarship. They offer tremendous opportunities, just hired 500 faculty in 2018, great school spirit, are building new facilities and raised over $500 million in their annual fundraising for 2019.

Excellent opportunities
By GoGators, From ATX
I chose Florida over Emory and Duke in the late 90s and have never regretted it. I had the opportunity to do graduate-level research as and undergraduate. I had plenty of interaction with my professors and that was invaluable. Gainesville is full of accomplished, yet unpretentious Mind you, it's challenging and you won't be led by the hand. There are plenty of opportunities for hardworking students.

Long term results
By Highly satisfied graduate, From Ferndale, Michigan
I graduated from UF in 1999. Since then my education and University ranking have paid dividends both personally and professionally. I meet UF grads while serving overseas in the military and even the former UF coach Meyers visited me as part of the USO. My education has kept me ahead of my peers and I am currently in the top 8% of family income in the US 20 years after graduation and my wife does not work. Even out of school my first job put me in the top 30% of family income. I have visited the campus multiple times since graduating and have life long relationships. Also I worked 2 jobs and went to school so I can say it was a hard time but I am totally satisfied.

By LL Class of 96, From Seattle, WA
Attended UF as an undergraduate and enrolled in the College of Architecture during my second year. The curriculum is well-rounded and rigorous with an emphasis on conceptual design and critical thinking. This emphasis requires students to approach challenges both critically and creatively.

They don't care about the students!
By C1, From Florida
UF cares about one thing. Their rankings. You have to fight tooth and nail to get any time with the professors. Many if which can't be understood due to accents. You are left with TAs who don't care or are ignorant. I love my friends at UF but save yourself stress, anxiety and possibly having to pick a major you hate just to get kicked out in 4 years. I'd go to UCF if I had to do it over.

Fantastic School and Great Value
By G8trdog, From Orlando
Graduated undergrad and masters program at UF. The school is big and there's no hand holding but the faculty and facilities are great. If you take some initiative and challenge yourself you will get a great education. Plus, the social scene is second to none and the sports and school spirit will make it the best 4 years of your life.

Best experience ever
By Rina M, class of 2019, From Gainesville, FL
I would not change my experience for anything. From football Saturday's in the swamp to basketball games in the O'Dome, to being ranked a top 10 public university. UF has it all and I am so glad to have spent the last 4 years here. The city of Gainesville itself is a nice college town. They're adding a lot to it and there's so many food/ shopping options now. Nightlife is fun if you're over 21 and being in Greek life is definitely helpful

Beautiful People
By Class of 1994, From Missouri
The best looking people seem to attend UF - great place to meet a potential fiance or spouse. Competitive and hard working student body that is football crazy and like to party. Students have to learn to survive in a large campus and it is not for everyone as those without drive and self-discipline and grit may flounder. Nothing easy about being an undergrad at a large university. No coddling and no real support system for those kids without the maturity to make the most of the opportunity.
