Great University, If You Let It Be
By Troy, Class of 2007, From Owensboro, KY
I graduated MSU in four years with a BS in computer science. I started out living in the dorms and then moved off campus. MSU has been busy building new dorms to replace the older ones; I stayed in an older dorm while I was there. By all accounts, the new dorms are a huge upgrade. Finding a place to rent off campus was not difficult. There's appartments and houses to rent all over the city. The city itself is small; if MSU wasn't there then Murray wouldn't exist really. There's not much to do in the city itself, but what it does have to offer is enough for a college kid. Being involved in clubs, intramurals, or other social aspects makes up the difference. There's plenty of activities a person could get engaged with, but like anywhere else, it's up to the individual to do so. My advisor was great. Would meet with me anytime I had questions and answered them to the best of her ability. Word of advice, don't just meet with your advisor once a semester. Be involved in your education and use the resources that are available to you. Class size was normally small for your major courses, but generals had some larger class sizes. Like anyone else, I had certain professors I prefered over others for personal reasons, but all were capable in the subject they were teaching. Not once did I have a professor tell me they were to busy to speak with me. MSU is a smaller university, but it offers everything the larger universities do. You won't be missing out on your college life by attending MSU. I enjoyed my time there because I got involved and sought out activities that interested me. I met a lot of great people and made friends with whom I still stay in touch with today. It's what you make it.

NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MURRAY STATE
By Class of 2018, From Kentucky
Let me tell you my story. I am a Nutrition student at Murray state University, set to graduate in TWO WEEKS. I was told on Tuesday November 21st that i did not mass a pre req for a class that I am currently in. Questions: 1. Why am I in the current class the 2. How did I get in 3. How am I just now being notified 4. Will I get anymoney back Answers 1. I am in the current class because professors are lazy and absent minded my put in overrides for ALL students regardless or Grades (therefore you can get into a class WITHOUT passing the pre req...that SHOULD NOT BE A POSSIBILITY) 2. That is how I got into a class that I was destined to fail anyway because I did not pass thebpre req. 3. I am just now notified because according to MURRAY STATE FACULTY that is my responsibility (yes it is) but what is your job then? As an advisor, professor, or faculty member of MURRAY STATE UNIVERSITY. Why put in an override for a student that DID NOT PASS. Is it laziness? I think yes. FACULTY AT MURRAY STATE UNIVERSITY DO NOT ACTUALLY CARE. "Opportunity afforded...I THINK NOT. 4. No you will not get your money back, I am now it $6,000 plus dollars for the class I originally failed, and the class I have now failed because I DID NOT PASS THE PRE REQ. Before enrolling at MURRAY STATE UNIVERSITY, take not if this. They will not help you, they do not care about your future or how/when you graduate, and they are not willing in anyway to help you other than telling you "how it is."
