Do you accept Jews

Asked by Jeff from New Jersey

Yes. Liberty University complies with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. It does not engage in unlawful discrimination or harassment because of race, color, ancestry, religion, age, sex, national origin, pregnancy or childbirth, disability or military veteran status in its educational programs and activities. That said, it is a private conservative Christian university that openly promotes a Christian worldview in the classroom and in some extracurricular activities.

What is the percentage of Christians at the University?

Asked by Will from Newark, New Jersey

This information is unavailable, but it can be safely assumed that as a private conservative Christian university, the majority of staff and students identify as Christian. As a grad student, I don't recall being asked about my faith during the admissions process, although I did have to agree with a Code of Conduct.

I am currently applying to colleges, and I am looking for schools that are reasonably close to home, have lots of academic and extra-curricular options, and that have a strong music program. How is Liberty's music department, especially on the piano performance/education side of things? Thanks for any help :)

What is the percentage of applicants that were admitted?

Asked by caleb from Utah

Hi Caleb, the acceptance rate for fall 2018 was 56%.

Liberty is considered very selective. You will need a competitive GPA and SAT scores, as well as an impressive application in order to set you apart from other applicants.

I'm considering Liberty U as one of my college choices and need to know, are there any drawbacks to LU? Are there some things you would not recommend or consider a strength?

Asked by E.J.V. Class of 2020 from undisclosed

The answer will vary depending on the person. Liberty University is one of the most conservative Christian universities in the world. The complaints I have read online come from students or former students who failed to acknowledge this fact. In other words, if you are a Christian and your political leanings are conservative, Liberty is great. If you aren't, and are not open to considering this worldview, you may not feel at home here. I don't see that as a flaw with the school, because they are very open and upfront about what their mission is. I expect a Christian university to be Christian, and there are many people who come to Liberty because of it. I'm a first year Liberty grad student, so I have a undergrad degree from another college and base my opinion on comparing the two schools. Beyond the mission statement, Liberty University has the same pros and cons as other schools. You may or may not like the location. You may or may not like the food. You might like or dislike a professor. Liberty does have a code of conduct, so I would suggest prospective students to look at that on their website before applying to make sure they are willing to comply with it; some may not like that. Overall, however, I am enjoying my coursework at Liberty University and enjoy the learning environment.
