Had a great time at W&L. Teaching was personally oriented with small classes taught by full professors who know you and are interested in your development. W&L also offers the opportunities for a student to compete on an intercollegiate level with out being on scholarship. Greek houses have been welcoming for all of student body. Rockbridge County where school is located, is incredibly beautiful-offering hiking, tubing/kayaking, and some mountaineering.

Outstanding Education and Community

Our son graduated from W&L in 2017. He received an incredible education. He was able to double major in Business and English, all while playing football for four years. The education he received, the friends he made, the experience of playing sports in college, the relationships he had with his professors all made for an incredible four years. We can't say enough good things about W&L. It is outstanding in every way.

i guess this is the future

I graduated from the last male entering class. I loved my experience but slowly since Elrod's passing I watched it change to where it was no longer the same school - just kept the novel calendar and heavy LAC focus. W&L is not of interest to my DC prep school kids - they want active city school like a columbia or g-town. To me W&L is an interesting relic promoting an aged LAC ideology combined with professional school, like Bucknell tries with chemical engineering. Luckily W&L is rich enough to afford items to keep it in the top 25 LACs, but rankings alone don't mean much to an employer. The most successful finance major grads I hire come from Villanova, Wake, Vandy, Duke, Michigan, Lehigh etc...W&L is too LAC for the modern finance world (too many common core classes) and is too far away from a financial center for part time analyst intern opportunities.

Great education with personal touch and merit scholarships

My son is a current student and the school experience has been superior. He got to do research the summer after freshman year because the professor saw he had many questions and a serious interest in her class. My son has greatly matured in just one year at W&L; this school develops the whole person and produces quality individuals. The School is generous and offers merit scholarships to top students. Unlike other top liberal arts colleges, it offer courses in business and engineering as well as liberal arts and sciences. The students are friendly and help each other. W&L is superb!

Superior education within a unique campus culture of honor.

Our daughter visited several top 10 universities and was able to meet the professors and attend their classes when deciding upon her educational path. After one visit at W&L she knew she was home. W&L has an interview process to select a candidate that compliments its stringent academic expectations, integrity, respect and most importantly their honor code. This unique culture is a positive and friendly environment whereby each student supports each other, offers a smile and helping hand to visitors on campus and not buried in their PDAs. Every student is brilliant and competitive but not overbearing. As a neuroscience major, our daughter has participated in ground breaking research, traveled to present discoveries to global neuroscience professionals and has been offered additional research opportunities as a rising senior. She is just one example of a W&L student.

The equal of any school in the country

Our son is a senior and W&L has been a perfect fit for him. Outstanding faculty and academics, friendly/welcoming/inclusive environment, beautiful setting, incredible facilities and so much more. Anyone who says this school is conservative or homogeneous has not been to W&L - free thinking and a focus on diversity are very much a part of the fabric of this special place.

I am a 1968 graduate of W & L. Four of the best years of my life were spent there, followed by three of the worst ( I am a Viet Nam vet.) I believe I got a great education from a dedicated and excellent faculty. Recently attended 50th class reunion. Was amazed by all the wonderful improvements, including the physical plant, our new University President and coeducation. (All male when I was there.)
