The curriculum focuses on two distinct areas of management & leadership qualities. The first year focuses on core subject matter and prerequisite courses, analysis, critical thinking, presentation, and communication. The second year starts with a 10-week integrated management project where students work to solve a real business issue for a Fortune 500, regional or start-up company, and ends with multiple elective courses that allow the student to specialize in a concentration area. International programs, entrepreneurial ventures, and leadership programs augment the experience.
The core curriculum provides a foundation in business: accounting, economics, finance, marketing, operations, organizational behavior, statistics, and strategy, which culminates with a ten-week consulting capstone project that links companies with student teams to solve business challenges. The elective curriculum emphasizes the application of management skills, team projects and managing by innovation & entrepreneurialism.
Our accelerated 9-month MPAc program is one of the first graduate accounting programs in California to embed data analytics into the curriculum, as well as provide both a tax and/or analysis concentration. Data analytics brings big data techniques into the world of financial statement auditing and is the future of the accounting profession. Our one-year MSBA program hones students analytical, technical, and data science skills in concert with managerial and organizational change skills. Students benefit from our deep connections with San Francisco and Silicon Valley companies on the forefront of the Big Data revolution. The program emphasizes learning-by-doing and teamwork on a year-long analytics project for a corporate sponsor.
