The Collat School of Business at University of Alabama--Birmingham offers these departments and concentrations: entrepreneurship, finance, health care administration, marketing, and management information systems. Admission to the MBA program is competitive. Criteria include academic success, professional work experience, GMAT score, application essay and references when reviewing candidates for admission.
Admission requirements are the same as that of the on-campus program. A holistic review of the application includes transcript review of undergraduate performance, length and type of professional post-bac work experience, references, essay, and test score - minimum score of 480 required - if not waived.
MAc admission requires grades of B or better in 7 prerequisite accounting courses, and a GMAT score of 500 or above from students not completing the undergraduate prereqs at an AACSB-accredited college or university. The GMAT is waived for UAB accounting graduates and other students who take all of the foundation courses at UAB and have a minimum GPA of 3.4. Students with Cs or below are asked to defer admission and retake those specific classes and earn grades of B or better.

The School of Medicine at University of Alabama—Birmingham (UAB) is centralized in a large university complex that spans more than 80 city blocks, with much of that space dedicated to clinical facilities, research laboratories, classrooms, and surgical suites.
Medical students in the School of Medicine get many opportunities to conduct research if they choose to do so in the summer between their first and second years of school, or after their second year, when they may take a year to do elective research either at UAB or another institution. Students at the UAB School of Medicine can earn an M.D., or joint degrees that combine an M.D. with either a Ph.D. or master of public health.
