Don't go here
By Doug, From Fort Collins, CO
Don't waste your time and money going here if you have any other options. I've been here for 4 years and let me tell you, I'm sure I could have gotten a much better value from almost any other school for less money. CSU is still technically a state college which might lead you to think it would be cheaper than other options. But in fact, CSU only gets around 9% of its funding through the state, which means that the rest of its money comes through its skyrocketing tuition costs. It's literally just a for-profit private college at this point. Even its in-state tuition is expensive, but its cost is downright ridiculous for any out-of-staters that get duped into coming here. Which is probably the reason why CSU has been pushing so much for students from other states to attend here in greater numbers. Especially considering the college recently put in a totally unnecessary >220 million dollar stadium. On the academic side of things, many of the professors here are a joke. There are some good ones, and even a few great ones, but they are heavily outnumbered by mediocre and bad teachers. Some professors don't know what they're talking about, and some barely speak English. Many of them know their stuff, but are utterly incapable of teaching it to their students. Which is ridiculous, considering each student will be paying thousands of dollars to take a class with an incompetent teacher and end up having to learn most of the material on their own. Be prepared to teach yourself out of a book for most subjects here, for many classes you're basically paying for the privilege to do the homework and tests assigned by the professor whilst doing all the actual learning on your own. Finally there is the living conditions at CSU. CSU is in the middle of the downtown area, traffic is usually bad and parking is slim in the surrounding blocks. Even if you purchase the parking passes for CSU, which will run you 2500+ dollars over the course of a four year degree, the lots

My University
By Justin, 2021, From Fort Collins
Colorado State University has been a perfect college experience for me. My professors are down to earth and easy to build connections with. The student body is spread out between outdoorsy people, academic types, and people who make the most out of every day. The campus is beautiful and Fort Collins is a quintessential town to experience the best Colorado has to offer.

Wonderful memories
By Howie, class of 2011, From Rehoboth Beach, DE
For me, kind of a shy kid from a small town, CSU was perfect. Nurturing would be the word best describing my four years there. The student body is warm and friendly, the townfolk can't be beat, the professors I had were extremely good. Great library, dorms, and off-campus living spaces. Cold weather (OMG, cold) in the winter but paradise in the spring and fall. I went on for my Masters at a Big Ten school, got a terrific post-grad education but I certainly missed the overall atmosphere of CSU.
