University of California--Merced User Reviews and Ratings
Being a part of UC system it has a spectacular future ahead.

As UC Merced is one of the fastest growing public Universities in the US with most possibly a spectacular future ahead, one can assume, this institution's acceptance rate will only decrease with time. That means it will be more and more selective in the future. Starting with an acceptance rate of 95% it has drastically become way more selective in only 13 years with an acceptance rate of 60% (Very close to UC Riverside's which is 56%) The grad programs here already started with a very good foundation became some of the country's most desirable programs. Since UC Merced's growth rate is better than any of the other public Universities in the US in recent years, this University could be even better than it's closest competitor UC Riverside or any other UCs in a few years. Remember, when UC Davis first started everyone was skeptical about that institution just like they are now about UC Merced. Now UC Davis is considered a public Ivy!

Its alright I guess

Its a decent school, but the food is pretty bad. We have limited food options and they aren't that great. The Pavilion food center is pretty bad, but the Yablokoff food center redeems it somewhat. Because of the location, there isn't much to do if your not involved int clubs or other school activities. Other than that its a good option for someone who may not have gotten into their first choice school.

UC Merced is such a great institution with many opportunities for everyone. The opportunities are there you just have to go and get them. Although its is fairly new (built in 2005) the university is already doing really well in many aspects. Here, you can do research, volunteer in the community or get involved through many of the clubs here. I am a first year student here and I love it. I have already gotten involved with a couple of clubs on campus and have already been offered a research position for the spring semester. If you really want to make a difference and get the bang for your buck, UC Merced is the place to be. I know that UC Merced does not get much recognition compared to other UC's but this is truly a hidden gem. Also, the campus is expanding so by 2020 it will be about double the size.
