Claremont's Excellent Undergrad Business School
By Ted '80s, From San Diego, CA
CMC is the Claremont College that specializes in economics, business and the social sciences. As such, it may not be the best for creative types; but it is definitely the best for students interested in economics, accounting and other business-related majors. One huge advantage is that CMC students can use the facilities and take classes for-credit at other Claremont Colleges as part of their studies - and the students at all five colleges tend to mix together academically and socially in the most positive and fun ways. CMC is one small college within a much larger educational community. As such, the entire city of Claremont is very safe and welcoming to all students. CMC is actually the most conservative of the five Claremont Colleges. The curriculum reflects many conservative social thinkers, and economic schools of thought. While this is not necessarily a bad thing; it is not the most comfortable place for highly progressive economic thinkers or social activists. I would very much recommend CMC to anyone who thinks they might eventually want to get an MBA, or anyone who wants to get into Finance or work in politics. I would not recommend it to anyone who is seeking a major in the creative arts or anyone who is seeking a decidedly progressive education.

The best choice we have ever made
By h. lindsey, From Central Valley
I have three kids, all very different. My eldest is so happy at UCLA, but we knew that my middle child needed a different, more personalized environment. He is in his first year and I have seen him within the first month, interact with his professors; engage in extracurriculars; and generally engage with a student body that is incredibly diverse while being supportive of one another. This is a special school. We feel like part of a family- one that is equally as invested in my child's success, and very well equipped to see his goals come to bear.

You should apply
By B, class of 2000, From NYC
Sunshine, serious smart / ambitious people, and plenty of fun. This school is small and residential enough that you won't get lost in a crowd, but part of the Claremont consortium, so you'll have a broad diversity of classes and experiences. Teachers are very dedicated to teaching as opposed to research, so you will learn. Honestly I feel sorry for anyone who went to college anywhere else.
