Special place to get a world class education

Incredible academics! Professors are top notch, accessible, caring. Culture emphasizes social justice, political awareness, and environmental stewardship. Students are super smart yet not pretentious. Friendly campus! Fun parties and more low key than state school drinking fests. I love it here and feel fortunate every day to attend my dream school.

One of the best choices I've ever made

I attended Pitzer to study human biology in 2010. I then went on to do 2 master's degrees and a PhD in biochemistry at Oxford. I now work in biotech venture capital. Pitzer has a friendly and open culture, coupled with the great academics of the Claremont Colleges (you can take course at any of the 5 institutions -- CMC, Scripps, Harvery Mudd, Pomona, plus 2 adjacent graduate institutions, Claremont Graduate University and the Keck Institute). The Claremont Colleges are one of the best-kept secrets in higher education. I had offers at several institutions and was choosing between some of the UCs, Pitzer, and Occidental where I had scholarship offers. I am so glad I avoided the morass of the UC system. Pitzer offered a tailored, intimate experience where I could hang out with my professors -- that would happen rarely at the UCs where you are just a face in the crowd. Also, Claremont weather is fantastic. The dining hall was regarded as the best among the Claremont Colleges and I can tell you the food is 100x better than at the colleges in Oxford (which was the inspiration for the Claremont consortium!). As for Pitzer, I wish I could re-live my experience there (and that I spend a little less time studying)! Sorry, I get quite nostalgic.
