Just wanted to further clarify "82% of freshman from NC." Does that mean they only accept 18% out of state freshman?
Asked by JL from New Jersey
That is correct. Out-of-state enrollment for the freshman class cannot exceed 18%, according to UNC policy.

I just read that 82% of the freshman class must be from North Carolina. Is that really true? Why is that and do most of those students stay around on the weekends or go home? Not looking for a commuter type school.
Asked by JD from New York
Yes, that's true. It's per NC law. Most students do stay on the weekends though- it's definitely not a commuter type. People come from all over NC from beaches to the mountains. Fewer people live close enough to go home all the time.
