Great CS program

Great computer science program with internship programs with connections to downtown Portland startups. While PSU is a commuter school, the students are very active and there are many opportunities to socialize, you just need to make the effort to join some orgs. As a non-traditional student there is a lot of support especially for veterans.

Underpaid, overworked staff who can't spend time with students, worst advisors ever (most of my friends including myself) have wasted 4k-10k due to bad advising. Spend a ton of money on social activities and advising stuff that just stinks.

Would NOT recommend PSU to a friend

Throughout my four years at PSU I watched countless friends and classmates be forced to drop out due to the lack of financial support and concern for students. This university continually prices out students by raising tuition in order to fix their poor budgeting decisions. Students have brought countless issues to the administration only to have to be left dismissed and unheard. PSU is run so unsustainability as they are quite literally going to run this university into the ground as enrollment is continually dropping. PLEASE for your own sake do not go to this institution. They just want to take your money and give you a poor product as academic and student services get slashed further and further each year and the faculty is deeply undersupported.

Quality research institution in Downtown Portland

PSU has a great campus in Portland with both new and old buildings. Not perfect, but ideal compared to many other west coast universities, and arguably the best university in Oregon. Excellent resources throughout the university, and there seems to be an effort to improve quality of life for students. Several school buildings have gone, or are going through, major renovations. While the city setting and academics score well, safety, social life, and housing could be improved. Overall PSU is a solid choice for any prospective undergrad or graduate student in Oregon.
