Fabulous experience for this Kentucky hick.

If you have original ideas, that others might consider loopy, and can justify them to Amherst, they will permit you to try them out. I was allowed to create my own Junior Year abroad program; my own leave-of-absence in Africa, and then my own Independent Scholar program my Senior year. AND they allowed me to use my grant/loan money to do it all. WOW. I am ETERNALLY thankful to the open-minded people who didn't laugh at my suggestions. LOVED this school. Get this: Amherst even gave me a scholarship to use at the London School of Economics after I graduated!
