The B.I. To be considered for regular admission, an applicant must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited American institution, submit acceptable test scores on the Graduate Admissions Test (GMAT), and meet the admission standards and other regulations of the UL Lafayette Graduate School. The GMAT may, at the discretion of the Program Director, be waived for students with an undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or greater. The GRE may be accepted in lieu of the GMAT depending upon the student’s undergraduate major. Students whose first language is not English, must, in addition, submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL/IELTS) and demonstrate to the Director of the Program an appropriate working and speaking level of English. The majority of students entering the MS in Accounting program will possess an undergraduate degree in accounting. Total of 33 hours: 27 hours (9 courses) of core courses and 6 hours (2 courses) of electives/concentration courses. The MS in Accounting program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette offers a graduate degree and also provides the additional credentials to meet the 150 hours required to be licensed as a CPA in Louisiana. Building on a strong tradition of preparing students to enter the accounting profession, the Department of Accounting’s mission is to extend the education of qualified students through a creative and exciting learning environment. The pursuit and attainment of the MS in Accounting degree provides advanced preparation for careers in public accounting, industry, government, and consulting. The MS in Accounting degree consists of 30 semester hours and is designed to be completed in approximately one year by a full-time student.
