Part-time MBA distance learning program

Specialty master's program

To be considered for regular admission, an applicant must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited American institution, submit acceptable test scores on the Graduate Admissions Test (GMAT), and meet the admission standards and other regulations of the UL Lafayette Graduate School. The GMAT may, at the discretion of the Program Director, be waived for students with an undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or greater. The GRE may be accepted in lieu of the GMAT depending upon the student’s undergraduate major. Students whose first language is not English, must, in addition, submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL/IELTS) and demonstrate to the Director of the Program an appropriate working and speaking level of English. The majority of students entering the MS in Accounting program will possess an undergraduate degree in accounting. Applicants with a non-accounting degree will be accepted into the program upon completion of the following prerequisite accounting courses or their equivalents: Intermediate Accounting I (ACCT 301) Intermediate Accounting II (ACCT 302) Intermediate Accounting III (ACCT 303) Cost Accounting (ACCT 305) Auditing (ACCT 409) Individual Income Taxation (ACCT 420)

Concentration in Health Care Administration is offered consisting of a total of 39 hours: 18 hours (6 courses) of business core courses and 21 hours (3 core courses, 2 electives, and 2 internships in a health care organization) of health care courses.

Specialty master's program

The MS in Accounting program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette offers a graduate degree and also provides the additional credentials to meet the 150 hours required to be licensed as a CPA in Louisiana. Building on a strong tradition of preparing students to enter the accounting profession, the Department of Accounting’s mission is to extend the education of qualified students through a creative and exciting learning environment. The pursuit and attainment of the MS in Accounting degree provides advanced preparation for careers in public accounting, industry, government, and consulting. The MS in Accounting degree consists of 30 semester hours and is designed to be completed in approximately one year by a full-time student. The curriculum for the program is as follows: Required Accounting Courses (15 hours): ACCT 516 Professional Ethics for Accountants ACCT 531 Theory of Accounting ACCT 527 Corporate Taxation ACCT 505 Managerial Cost Accounting ACCT 546 Auditing Theory and Standards ACCT 518 Date Analytics for Accountants Elective Accounting Courses (6 hours): to be selected from existing 500 level accounting courses with the consent of the Program Director or Program Coordinator.
