Factors and Procedures Used in Admissions

Full-time MBA program

The application process to the Freeman MBA program is entirely online. All applications are reviewed for admissions on a holistic basis. After an initial review some applicants will be invited for a personal interview. Because the Freeman applicant pool is so geographically diverse, most of the interviews are done by Skype or phone. Every successful MBA applicant is evaluated for merit-based fellowship awards at the time of admission. A valid score from either the GMAT or GRE is a required part of the application to the full-time traditional two year MBA. The Freeman School seeks students who will thrive in the program and beyond. While there are no specific prerequisite courses or majors, successful Freeman applicants demonstrate a high level of academic achievement and quantitative ability. Post graduate work experience and a strong career plan also contribute to a successful application.

Executive MBA program

We seek mid/upper level managers who aspire to become leaders in a volatile and global business market. Applicants are evaluated based on Professional Experience, Leadership Potential, Overall strengths, motivations, personal commitment, and ability to meet the demands of the program, as evidenced by transcripts, resume, recommendations, essays, personal interview, and, if necessary, GMAT score.

Part-time MBA program

The Tulane Professional MBA (PMBA) program is for rising professionals with at least two years of work experience seeking to increase their effectiveness and fast-track their careers in a flexible environment.

Curricula Descriptions

Full-time program

The full-time MBA program, completed over four semesters, requires 61 credit hours. The curriculum encompasses knowledge core courses (24 credit hours), a one-of-a-kind global leadership module (7 credit hours), and elective courses (30 credit hours). Knowledge core courses provide a foundation in all functional disciplines of business and help students understand how they are integrated in the management of successful organizations. The global leadership module provides real-world business experiences through incorporated client projects and immersion trips to the European Union, Latin America, and Asia. Through an extensive elective set, students in both programs can sharpen their focus through concentrations or specializations in analytics, energy, entrepreneurial hospitality, entrepreneurship, finance, real estate, and/or strategic management and innovation.

Executive program

The Executive MBA curriculum is broad-based and delivers advanced business knowledge over 18 months in a lock-step format. Courses are sequenced building in complexity and depth as students move through the program. Students choose four electives to earn an MBA degree with a finance or management concentration.

Part-time program

The Tulane Professional MBA (PMBA) is a three-year, part-time program that is taught by faculty members from Freeman’s prestigious Full-Time MBA program in New Orleans. In small classes, MBA students acquire expertise through experience - how to analyze problems critically, how to set smart goals, and how to be both a team player and an effective manager. In addition to developing a common body of knowledge in practical business matters, students in the PMBA program are able to complete a concentration or specialization in select fields. While no concentration or specialization is required, these options provide students the opportunity to create a program that meets more specific academic and career goals.

The full-time program application fee at the School of Law at Tulane University is $60. Its tuition is full-time: $60,720. The student-faculty ratio is 7:1.

Tulane University Law School in New Orleans is one of the oldest law schools in the country. After completing required courses during their first year, students take electives during their second and third years, with the exception of one required legal ethics course. In addition to traditional legal training, Tulane Law School offers specialty courses and certificates in maritime law, European legal studies, sports law and more. Students also have a variety of joint degree options, including opportunities to earn an MBA or an accounting master’s degree through the Freeman School of Business along with their law degree.

Public interest and clinics are a focus at Tulane Law School, and J.D. students must complete at least 30 hours of pro bono work before graduation. There are about 40 student organizations and several legal journals, including the Tulane Maritime Law Journal, the Tulane Journal of International and Comparative Law and the Tulane Law Review. Law students may live on campus, but most choose to find off-campus housing throughout New Orleans.

Tulane Law School offers a Loan Repayment Assistance Program for graduates who work in the public sector and whose incomes fall below a specific level. Notable alumni of Tulane Law School include U.S. Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana and Terry O’Neill, president of the National Organization for Women.
