The School of Business at Howard University offers these departments and concentrations: entrepreneurship, finance, general management, international business, marketing, and supply chain management/logistics. Its tuition is full-time: $36,016 per year and part-time: $1,895 per credit. At graduation, 68.40 percent of graduates of the full-time program are employed.

Howard University is a historically black college in Washington, D.C., that was founded in 1867, shortly after the Civil War, as a theological institution to train African-American clergymen. The university changed and expanded in the years since its founding, and among other fields of study, it added the School of Business in 1970.

Howard business students today have ample opportunity to explore the many companies located in the nation’s capital. Howard University and the U.S. Small Business Administration have also partnered to create the Washington, D.C., Small Business Development resource center on campus. The Howard University School of Business is also the first historically black college—and one of very few schools of any kind—to house a Financial Markets Trading Room simulation.

Graduate students at the Howard University School of Business can earn an M.B.A. by attending classes full time during the day, or by the pursing the part-time M.B.A. program in the evenings and earning the degree in three to four years. There are also options to earn a duel degree at the School of Business, in which case students could pair an M.B.A. with a J.D., M.D., or a degree in pharmacy or engineering.

Graduate students can get involved outside the classroom through clubs that are directed specifically to master’s students, including the Graduate Business School Council, Graduate Finance and Investment Club, Graduate Marketing Association, and the Supply Chain Management Student Association.

Business students and alumni at Howard can make the most of their academics by visiting the Center for Professional Development, which assists them in interviewing, networking, and finding jobs. After graduating, students can join the Howard School of Business Alumni Network of nearly 7,000 graduates, which helps former students reconnect and raise money for scholarships.
