Midsize midwestern gem

Normal is a good college town, Bloomington is home to State Farm's world headquarters which brings a network of business that support and cater to the community. It's a very walkable campus, and has a great sports culture for students. All of the professors, like at most institutions of higher learning, want to see their students succeed. Normal is a short driver to Champaign, Peoria, and Springfield, so if you are looking for a day trip and want to get out of town it's super easy. Two hours from Chicago if you're looking for an urban adventure. Overall campus is fun and safe, great school for kids to consider.

Excellent university in supportive environment

ISU has the advantages of a large university, but the feel of a smaller ore intimate campus and class size. Academically, Illinois State rivals Big Ten universities in the region, yet does not get the recognition it deserves. As an alum of the University of Illinois (a great school), we marvel at the number of classes taught by actual professors at ISU where larger universities rely on teaching assists and grad students to carry much of the load. ISU is a gem, and in many ways is like Miami University (Ohio) but in Illinois.
