University of Texas--Dallas User Reviews and Ratings
One of the most underrated universities in Texas
By Reweiver, From Southlake, TX
UT Dallas is young (it wasn't a "full-fledged" university until 2003) & doesn't have football, which is why many overlook it. But within that short amount of time, it has already established itself as the #1 research instution in Dallas-Fort Worth (often working with Berkeley, Stanford, MIT), average undergrad SAT/ACT scores that surpass Texas A&M + match UT Austin, has the most National Merit Scholars in the state, and has a business school (Jindal) that ranks above Cox at SMU. People in the state of Texas view students from UTD as smart/nerdy who happen to have very pragmatic views when it comes to academic & career goals. UTD is growing at an insane rate - it jumped up 20 ranks on the US News National rankings from 2017 to 2018, and will likely hit $1B in endowments by 2030. Plus, the facts 1) DFW/North Texas does not have a Tier 1 university yet and 2) Dallas is the ONLY city within the "Top 10 largest US cities" that does not have an AUU member university yet positions UT Dallas as the most likely candidate to fill the role in the near future. A degree from UT Dallas continues to grow in value every year. The university has been building so much infrastructure in recent years that there's a crane that's a seemingly permanent installation in the sky, and the campus looks nothing like it did 5 years ago. The reputation of a "commuter school" is becoming outdated. While many do commute, new resident buildings along with an upcoming on-campus DART stop (2020) is steadily transforming it into more of a modern "hybrid" between commuter & a more traditional feel. Unlike Austin, UTD feels safely sheltered away from the city distractions with a walkable centralized modern campus. UT Dallas decided long ago to take a different approach to becoming a premier public university when the founders envisioned an "MIT of the South". While I'd describe UTD closer to UC Irvine today, it will no doubt become the next MIT/Caltech that Texas needs & deserves to be in the Top 100.

One of best growing research universities in UT system
By Class of 2015, From Dallas
UT Dallas is the second best growing public research university in UT system. Though it just established with 50 years, it is growing fast in every aspects recently, especially research impacts. As a comet, wish the school developing more so that it would have higher reputation in the nationals.

One of the best Universities
By Class of 2018, From Dallas
I completed my Masters degree from UTD, and would say that it was an amazing course. I have no idea why it is ranked between 100-150. It should be in top 30 considering it's course structure and opportunities it provides to its students
