Good school and value

I'm happy with the education that my son is receiving at Simpson. He is majoring in computer science (CS) and has had very good professors and a good faculty adviser. It's a small school, but he likes the amount of attention and support that he has received. Unlike many public universities, it has a good 4 year graduation rate and CS/math major graduates have excellent career prospects. His major complaint his freshman year was related to the food, but they recently hired a new dining manager and improvements are being made. He's happy to be at Simpson.

Faculty cuts, subpar education

Financial troubles have resulted in major cuts in staff and programs. Terrible academic advising and terrible food service. "Suitcase college" where most students are from Iowa and return home on weekends.

Perfect size campus

Simpson College is a perfect sized campus & teacher to student ratio remains low. Staff genuinely care about the students' success along with well-being. We are happy our son chose Simpson College.

Financial Woes Crush Simpson

Recent budget cuts and layoffs have led to the decimation of programs, death of the art department, and faculty demoralizing. Not enough class sections to go around. New career-specific programs not in the spirit of liberal arts.
