Parents of 2 Elon students: Elon '17 & Elon '20

By Elon Mom, From Cleveland, OH

We had never heard of this school when our son pursued it in 2013, but quickly realized it was the perfect fit. The campus is very beautiful but the education, experiences, & relationships he left with were even more so. He took full advantage of the worldwide reach of the Study Abroad program, spending a summer in Morocco & a semester in Jordan. Graduating in 4 years, he went right from Elon to D.C. where he had an internship followed by a full time position. Our daughter had decided not to go where her brother did, wanting to blaze her own trail. However, after applying & being accepted to a dozen schools, she realized that Elon had everything she was looking for! And is now a senior with a double major & a triple minor heading to law school. So, yes - we love this school. Every dept. or staff we've dealt with over the years has been top-notch professional, while helpful & friendly. The dorms & apartments are a mix of well-maintained historic & brand new. The school is investing in itself in all the right ways & the facilities show it. The grounds are stunning - I could walk around for hours & have! Even more importantly, the class size is incredible. There are no lecture halls. Every class is taught by highly qualified professors who show up at their office hours & return emails. Our kids have made lifelong connections with people in their areas of study or fields of passion who go out of their way to help, from project/paper help to writing letters of recommendation. The social scene is a lot of Greek, which both of our kids didn't participate in, but never felt like they should or needed to - it's a personal choice. The campus size makes it easy for the social overlap of those in Greek life & those not to mix. The varsity sporting events are promoted & attended well & theater/music productions are top-notch. It's an 8 hr drive for us, but Greensboro airport is very close, Raleigh-Durham a bit farther, & Charlotte about 2 hrs. away.

Absolutely amazing

By Adam, c/o 2007, From Wilmington, NC

I graduated in 2007 and unquestionably had the best 4 years of my life. I had so much fun, met so many amazing and lifelong friends, and got an amazing education - was extremely well prepared for medical school and now as a physician and community leader.

Excellent School and Programs

By Bill M, From Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands

I have a son who is now a Senior (Class of 2020). The campus is stunningly beautiful and very well maintained. My son has thrived there with the small class sizes and caring staff, He also completed an internship in LA this summer that is a requirement and even there Elon was helpful. It is very remote, but my son prefers that to a big city. We are very pleased with his progress and development and Elon in general.

Excellent

By Class of 2013, From New York City

Elon is a great place to learn and develop as an individual during your college years. I cannot speak highly enough about the experience that Elon provides. It wont be long until Elon works its way into the top 50 schools on this list, and the sky is the limit from there as this great university continues to gain national recognition.

Excellent education, Right price, and Fun!

By Parent of 2019 alum., From Hamilton, MA

I am a parent of a recent Elon graduate who has been extremely impressed from the Admissions process right through Career searching. My daughter majored in Exercise Science and is well positioned for graduate schools in part because she's already worked on cadavers as a sophomore. Not many undergraduate schools have cadaver labs. Financially, we paid the same as we would have paid for UMass (our home state) so the price was reasonable. Most importantly, my daughter had a great time by getting involved with club soccer, the Irish Dance team, and Greek life. Housing was also exceptional on a safe and gorgeous campus. Study abroad was fantastic. Many, many siblings go there because parents fall in love with the school. Highly, highly recommend.

Amazing school!

By Parent of 2020, From Atlanta, GA

I am a parent of a senior and we have been amazed with this school from the move in day freshman year. One of the strengths/advantages this school has over others is that is exceptionally well run. The classes are small, the professors are impressive and they care about the students. The academics are strong, we have especially seen it in my son's double major in Marketing and Finance. They also have an amazing study abroad program and January short term classes. We couldn't have asked for anything more. My son is leaving with a great education and life long friends from all over the country.

Incredible school

By Connor, Class of 2018, From Washington D.C.

I had the best experience of my life at Elon. I got in to many higher ranked schools but chose Elon because of the great things I've heard from other students.

Shaped me into who I am today

By Erin, Class of 2018, From Boston, MA

Elon University shaped me into who I am today. The teachers care about you and your success. Small classes can make it hard to skip class, but it also helps you get the best education. The dorms are amazing, and so many are brand new now. Food is actually really good for college food, but sometimes you will want to go out for something else. There are of course places for improvement. It is a little tricky to find friends freshman year that aren't involved in Greek Life. However, I was a GDI and I still found my group and became involved in other organizations, which brought me my best friends. The area around Elon isn't some nice city. However, there is some amazing food! If you want to live in a city, don't come to Elon, but that should seem obvious. Come to Elon if you want to get to know the waitresses at the local pizza shop, drive 15 mins for some AMAZING crepes, and spend time hanging out in your friend's backyard or on the lawns.

Welcoming community

By Parent of 2022, From CT

My SD blossomed as soon as she got to Elon. She had a very difficult time in HS. But Found her way in a beautiful campus and has done so well there. They faculty has been welcoming and helpful. There are lots of activities to join. The campus is beautiful. She feels safe there. It is small town living, so if you want a big city you may not be happy. But NYC living isn't for everyone, this school has much to offer. Oh and Tons of shopping just a short and FREE bus ride away. That is assuming you don't already have a car on campus, because even freshman are allowed to bring them. Conveniently located between Raleigh and Greensboro for easy flights or a larger city atmosphere

Professors Care about Student Success

By Class of 2021, From North Carolina resident

Daughter is 2nd year: As an introvert, we've found she is thriving in a smaller classroom environment rather than a typical 250 student 1st year class at a larger public university (where older sister went). She is getting the classes she wants and there is more individualized counseling. Great professor/student ration (in one first year class, 12 students). Professors show interest in students, more individualized attention given. Second year she is more enthused and gaining confidence (having fun). She did join a sorority in her second semester, and is branching out. Elon University has a national network which is top-notch. Elon NC is a very small town...not much going on, but close to Greensboro and Raleigh-Durham (30 minutes away).

Elon deserves your serious consideration.

By p'19, From NC

As the father of a Senior, and having been on campus 10 times, my opinions are based on what I've seen, heard, and observed. This is a great school, and my daughter has thrived there. She has done very well grade-wise, loves her professors, has many friends, and is very active in the university.
