Binghamton University--SUNY User Reviews and Ratings
Great Education / Great employment opportunities after
By Dylan, CO' 2019, From New York, NY
Had some of the best years of my life at Binghamton. Classes and professors are challenging regardless of your major, but it gives you a sense of fulfillment when you actually perform well. Assuming you're looking to work in NY after college, Binghamton also has a great brand amongst employers and a vast alumni network that can better your chances of employment

Truly a Letdown
By Dan, 2019, From Commack, NY
Got my Bachelors at this school. The students believe they are going to the best school in the world and have a superiority complex. For some reason they refer to Bing as a "Public Ivy", which carries no meaning whatsoever and is made up. U.C. Berkeley is as close you'll get to a "Public Ivy". The professors seemed to not care about the students, and the food was average. I liked my advisors, however.

Wouldn't change anything for the world
By Sarah, class of 2016, From Philadelphia, PA
I came into school not really expecting that much, and was waiting for the university to impress me. You make choose how you spend your time here: participate on campus life, sign up for challenging classes, expand your world view, explore nature and make amazing life long friends. Those who feel uneasy about their time here definitely did not utilize all the school had to offer. I'm in dental school and most of my friends from here ended up in similarly prestigious institutions- while still having an absolute blast.

Best SUNY, nice College feel, excellent value.
By 2022 dad, From NYC
My child graduated with very good grades from the top specialized HS and still find the academics challenging. Professors are knowledgeable but not all are good teachers, like most other Colleges. Campus is well maintained. Most dorms are renovated like new hotels. Food is OK. Students are friendly and supportive. Lots of activities. Do you homework, attend open houses and Admitted Student Day before you make the decision. So you don't have to write a bad review afterwards.

Agree with the negative reviews
By Bearcat2004, From Atlanta
Binghamton did not prepare me for the real world. I graduated from the internally "prestigious" school of management. Corporate recruitment was next to nothing if you did not study finance or accounting. After moving outside NY I quickly realized NO ONE has heard of the school. As an Alumni I personally do not care to donate. I barely feel a connection to my time there.

Great value
By Class of 2022, From Buffalo
Binghamton university is really quite intellectual. The student here are top notch. Many got into Cornell or Yale but came to Binghamton because they couldn't afford those schools and it makes Binghamton a school of really smart people. There are plenty of activities to choose from. Get involved . Downtown is booming on the weekends. There are a ton of Long Island kids so take that for what it is worth. If you can get into business or engineering good for you. They should have a real D1 football team and a hockey rink on campus!

Great School with its few downsides
By Gabbie Class 2021, From SGF, NY
This isn't the best school but its certainly amazing in my book. Its got amazing programs and helpful staff almost everywhere you go. There are some professors that have a strong accent but those happen in every college and are rare here. There's free group tutoring for a lot of classes that's amazingly helpful. If there isn't one for your class you can request one and it only takes 5 people for them to get a tutor in that class. If you read one of the other reviews on here that's about then daughters stem scholarship disregard it. I went through the same thing and I also lost my STEM scholarship. The financial aid staff was able to get it back relatively quickly and they were very understanding. All students here have merit and truly deserve to be here. If a rogue happens to slip through the cracks normally the student will either transfer or drop out once they realize that this is a UNIVERSITY, not a high school. The dorms vary on quality with Hinman being the worst and Mountainview being the best. However, they all have their own good qualities and you should review the dorms before you decide where to live. I would recommend this school a billion times over and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Binghamton.

Excellent education
By John, Class of 2017, From New York City
I had a wonderful education at this university. The professors are great and very knowledgeable. If you performed well you will definitely be funded. The research opportunities are great too. The administration can be improved but education is top notch. The location is somewhat remote and the surroundings are a bit dull but its changing and mostly due to the university. It is also a ever expanding university, in the 4 years I had been there, I saw it only grow and grow beyond the campus to other areas in the surrounding like Johnson city. I hope the very best to the university.
