A community that pushes you out from your shell

As a senior at the college, I just received my highest GPA since middle school. I have always been a decent student but never saw myself as a super intellectual type. Here, Professors went out of there way to recognize my contributions to the classroom in a way that pushed me to be move beyond what I had capped my potential as. This school made me more confident as a person and I think this place holds you accountable in the most loving way possible. My professors and friends hold me to my words, socially and academically. I feel drawn to my classes and assignments and am super wrapped up in my senior research for my Independent Study. This wasn't just any undergrad four-year experience; I will always love Wooster for how it morphed me into the person I am today.

Not being an Ohio native we'd never heard of the College of Wooster before moving here. A college advisor spoke very highly of it and it seemed to meet the criteria of my son's wants so we checked it out. We came home with it being our new first choice and 1 year later he has had an incredible freshman year! The first year is always the hardest getting used to living away from home and the college really makes getting to know other students easy and they allow Freshman to take courses that really interest them in their major so they can truly start immersing themsleves in the academic experience. We could not be happier with our choice.

Great Experience, Great Learning Environment

I have had a fantastic experience at the college of Wooster. The small class sizes make the professors accessible, and it is easy to participate in a wide variety of clubs and other activities. I feel like I know a wide variety of people through different classes and organizations. Wooster can be expensive, but financial aid (both from Wooster and outside scholarships) makes it manageable and the money is put to good use throughout various programming. APEX is a great resource for students looking to graduate school, internships, study abroad experiences, and almost anything else. Overall, my experience so far with faculty and other students has been great. Some of the residence halls are in slight disrepair, but Wooster is in the process of renovating all of the residence halls, so that hopefully won't be a continuing problem! Great college, Great experiences, great classes.

My happy place

The College of Wooster is a place like none other. The people here-students, professors, faculty, and staff- are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Being a student here is incredible because of the connections and opportunities we have. APEX, Study Abroad, Sophomore Research just to name a few, have really expanded my horizons in terms of education and looking forward into my career. I love the city of Wooster, as the downtown area has many locally owned businesses and restaurants. Stopping there is a must!

The College has a faculty that are talented, engaging, and passionate about the academic enrichment of their students. The campus is full of intelligent, diverse, open-minded, collaborative individuals who are genuinely excited to grow, learn, and connect. The campus is beautiful and vibrant, and there are so many wonderful special-interest organizations in which students can get involved. It is truly a special place that nurtures each person that passes through it. Choosing this school is the best decision I have ever made, and although it has prepared me well for what comes next, I will be very sad to leave.

Becoming my best self

Wooster surprised me. I was considering not visiting the college and I'm glad that I did - I was able to see the various academic and social resources the college provides, coupled with the friendly community of student, staff, and faculty. I have been able to see the endless opportunities and have seen how Wooster cares about not only what you do on campus, but also preparing for what you do in the summer time and thinking about your future after Wooster. Professors on campus are genuinely interested in the ideas you have and students are always willing to lend a hand. The Friendliest College in Ohio

The College of Wooster has been a perfect fit for me. The liberal arts style has enabled me to pursue STEM, art and art history, music, athletics, greek life, and more. I feel like my education is more well rounded than if I had attended a large state school. The professors are incredibly supportive and are always happy to answer questions, go more in depth with the material, and encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and take difficult classes. Most importantly, however, is the atmosphere of The College of Wooster. When I visited campus in high school, I could tell that the people here were special, and after spending a year and a half on campus I know that that is more than true. The students, faculty, and staff are the kindest people I have ever met. The atmosphere is incredibly supportive rather than competitive and students and faculty really want to make meaningful connections! Students that go to The College of Wooster are typically involved in many activities, so students get to meet so many different people of different interests and backgrounds.

Not only did they help me fit a double major (one STEM, one humanities) into my four years here, but also an entire semester abroad! I have loved The College of Wooster ever since I stepped foot on campus for a tour my junior year of high school. The campus is filled with incredible students and professors, and the campus community is super warm and welcoming. Coming from a small high school, I really wanted those close relationships and that is exactly what Wooster offers. Professors will challenge and push you to your academic limits and the curriculum is designed to make you the best you can be, as well as an attractive candidate for graduate programs or jobs.

A great, academic bubble to grow/develop in!

The College of Wooster, so far, has been a great experience. The friends I have, the courses I take, and the extra curricular activities I am part of have all exceeded my expectations of what it means to be at college. Yes, there are some parts of the College which seem lack luster (like being in the middle of Ohio's farm country), but overall Wooster is a great "bubble" of a space which helps graduate-level students prepare for the next step in their lives, whatever that may be.

I picked the perfect college for me!

I have loved every second of my time at the College of Wooster. Coming from a very large public high school, where all of my high school peers went to large public universities, I found myself not only having to challenge myself academically, but also socially, and Wooster has allowed me to do just that. Wooster presents all of the best opportunities for students, such as extracurricular (music opportunities, Greek Life, club sports, academic clubs), academic resources (APEX, academic advising, accessible professors), and a welcoming campus (Knowlton Commons, Old Main Cafe, Lowry Student Center fire pit). Wooster has a diverse student body that loves celebrating many traditions, such as filling our campus arch with snow, congratulating our seniors on completing their undergraduate research, and listening to bagpipes throughout the year! Regardless of if you are looking for a small college or a large university, a liberal arts curriculum or not, take some time to visit the College of Wooster, as you will not be disappointed.
