Boilermaker for Life

By m.ho, From Phoenix, AZ

It's been 7 years since I graduated from Purdue. I wish I would have been more mindful of the enriching opportunities when I was there. Every time I tell someone I graduated from Purdue, they are impressed. I've been in my career for 7 years (since I graduated), and I have always been the most prepared person on any task-force. I am currently enrolled in a graduate program at a different university (Purdue, unfortunately, didn't offer what I wanted), and OWL was introduced in my first class. Beaming with pride, I boasted my attendance and participation with writing lab. My academic writing is, in my opinion, fierce compared to my peers, who were not writing lab-trained. The campus is beautiful. The buildings are uniform (whaddup, bricks). The students are well-rounded. The professors are knowledgable. I've heard that tuition has stabilized (of course, not when I was there). Curriculums are challenging. Stakes are high. Payoffs are great. (Bars are fun, too. I met my husband at one!) I can't wait to send my kids here one day. I would recommend Purdue to anyone.

Purdue Engineering

By J, From West Lafayette, Indiana

Purdue is located in the middle of nowhere, and there's not much to do. But honestly, that's a good thing. The people you meet here will be amazing, likeminded individuals that strive for the betterment of themselves and the world around them. Because everyone here is in the same boat, you and your friends tend to get really creative with the things you come up with to spend your time. The internship and co-op opportunities are world class here, and so are the professors once you get to upper level classes. There's also a ton of school spirit here. With the price you pay to attend Purdue is an absolute bargain, even if you're out of state, considering that Purdue is a top 10 engineering school. Purdue's reputation in most industries is a gold standard.

BOILER UP, HAMMER DOWN

By Brian C, Class of 1982, From Broomfield, CO

Graduated from Purdue WAY back in the 80's. Visited there recently, still has that roll up your sleeves and get it done mentality. If you put effort into your degree, you will succeed on your merits. The classes can be tough, but your future employer knows Purdue's great reputation. Solid academics, freedom to exchange ideas great student/teacher interaction and an administration that cares about the quality and price of your diploma. Very loyal alumni who are rightly proud to be BOILERMAKERS.

Excellent Engineering School

By Jordan, From Detroit, Michigan

Excellent Undergraduate Engineering Programs. As far as college cities are concerned West Lafayette is nothing special. But the quality of a Purdue Degree more than makes up for that. Also in state tuition is much more affordable than other schools of similar renown.

Women in Engineering

By Mech Eng 2018, From NOLA

Although the number of women in the engineer in program are disproportionately lower than their male counterparts, this is a exceptional nationally ranked Engineering school for any women that wants to excel and learn in the engineering discipline.

University so nice I went there twice.

By Pat C, From San Diego, CA

I graduated in 2006 with a BSAAE which I got on campus. Went again to get my Masters with their online degree program. Lafayette is small and conservative so be prepared for that on campus. The online program was rwally good aside from one professor who was a bit aloof and unresponsive. They stream the actual lectures and for the most part if you get stuck or whatever you can email the TA and they get right back to you. Now I have a great job making a lot of money in a great location (San Diego!) I still do a panel with Northrop Grumman and Purdue (kind of an outreach thing) where we watch the senior design projects online and comment on them to recruit Boilermakers to come out here to California!

Terrific University

By Chad R., Class of 2016, From Oakland, CA

I earned a master's degree online from Purdue, so I have a different perspective. I live in California and wanted to get a degree from a top school while working my professional job. Purdue was the easy choice. I got my MS in Communication from Purdue's Brian Lamb School of Communication. Amazing program from a top communication school. Awesome professors and department. I visited campus a couple of times and also really enjoyed it. Really classic college town with a nice campus. Everything sort of revolves around Purdue in West Lafayette. I went to football and basketball games and loved the spirit. But the real benefit to having a Purdue degree is the name recognition. I impress people with a masters degree from this school. I meet alumni in the Bay Area constantly (there are more than 7,000 Boilermakers here alone). It's a global school with a global brand.

Great Engineering School

By Josh L. Class of 2022, From District of Columbia

The amount of resources at this university is amazing. Engineering is the vocal point of this institution and it shows. Purdue has great spirit and identity that anyone can get accustomed to. Construction all the time is a bit annoying, fantastic school all around!

Great STEM school

By Jake, Class of 2022, From West Lafayette

Purdue offers students a serene campus life, while also preparing students' careers with rigorous, challenging academics. The STEM programs at Purdue also established to be few of the best in the world. It is a real treat studying here.

Purdue

By Finance, Management, Com. Science - 2020, From San Francisco, CA

I have loved every second of school. There is plenty of room for any niche you might want to find, with so many different clubs and organizations as well as the inclusive atmosphere they provide. I participate in greek life and I would say it's as stereotypical greek life as you want it to be but also collections of great, smart individuals. Every house is different and there are different people in all of them, is what I am trying to say. The weather gets a bit nippy in the winter but I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful campus come every other season. I am from California and do just fine with the weather. Classes here are more likely more rigorous than most schools depending on the major. This is a place that you will study like you never have before, but will be surrounded by some of the most innovative minds in an inclusive atmosphere. And that's not without a fair amount of fun ;)
