Ohio State University--Columbus User Reviews and Ratings

Great culture & exceptional business school

By Dave S., From Buffalo, NY

I am a parent of a current sophomore in the Fisher College of Business. I am blown away at the amazing curriculum. For example, in one class, the students were given a week-long role-play to manage a corporate crisis in real time - day, night, weekends etc. Every student plays a role like CEO, CFO, COO, etc. They were graded and had to apply business theory and justify their actions in a final oral presentation. Take much effort from the professors to do this. Students are friendly toward one another and help each other prepare for interviews - unlike other cut-throat school cultures. There are a number of acclaimed programs in the undergrad b-school. Many of the dorms are modern, campus is clean and all the staff are so friendly. Sports, student orgs, and a friendly school culture are all reasons to attend. It's competitive to get in and all the kids are smart and motivated.

Exceptional Business Program

By Blink242, From Pittsburgh, PA

My son just started his sophomore year. He was offered a rare and coveted post-sophomore summer internship in NYC at a top investment banking institution. The program at OSU is well-regarded by Wall Street and the banking industry. It is also a great value, esp if you are in-state. The key is that this is a place where you can truly forge your own path. If one works hard and takes advantage of everything there is to offer, it seems that the OSU name carries weight for a well-rounded curriculum and well-adjusted students who are prepared to enter and excel in the work force. We have friends who sent kids out of state or Ivy League ($$$$$) and are scratching their heads as to why the spent so much money with the same results at a great state-run school. Also the atmosphere is truly world class: great sports, numerous clubs, and headlining entertainers (Beyoncé, Trevor Noah!).

From small high school to huge world

By Buckeye grad 95, From Ohio

The possibilities seem endless at this amazing school. Its size is an asset, in that it affords seemingly limitless opportunities. I graduated and look back on my time and education at OSU as remarkable. I loved the atmosphere too.

Awesome Opportunities

By JR, Class of '01, From Albuquerque, NM

One of the many pluses for Ohio State are the academic and other opportunities of a large school in a fairly large metropolitan area. The number of majors and subfields of study available to undergraduate students is hard to beat, as are the academic resources on campus. Faculty are easy to approach. The opportunities at the graduate level are very strong as well. On the non-academic side of things, the NCAA athletic programs get a lot of attention, but the club, intramural and individual opportunities abound, as well as non-sports related clubs and activities. The setting of the campus is also beautiful, with open areas, Mirror Lake, and the Olentangy River. Yet, it is like a small town within a larger city.

Best School we visited

By CF class of '23, From New York

My son is a freshman at Ohio State. We found the campus to be pristine and impressive. People are welcoming and diverse and in every case, in love with the experience. My father in law is a professor at Columbia and recommended Ohio because it's size and money enables it to hire professors of extremely high caliber.

Incredible Campus

By Sebastian, From NY

As a father of an admitted student, I was blown away by OSU's campus and students and culture. Yes, it is a big school, but there is a welcoming feeling and a warmth that east coast schools just don't seem to engender as a rule

They work their engineering students ike slaves

By Jack S. 2020, From Columbus Ohio

Completely ridiculous workload, composed mostly of busy work...learning is not prioritized they try to get kids to fail so they have to retake courses, concepts aren't difficult, but little learning can take place when you have 5-8 hours of busy work a night on top of classes. Be prepared to put in 80+ hours a week if your in CSE and taking a normal course load of 15 credit hours

The Ohio State University should be up in the top 10

By Kris, From Charlotte

C'mon OSU isn't a good school - it's a great school. They say about grad school at OSU - "MIT - you can't get in, OSU - you can't get out"
