The University of the South User Reviews and Ratings
Great faculty and education
By Sewanee Grad, From Indiana
I went there with pretty much 100% financial aid and received a fantastic education. I was one of the few minorities in the school. Professors were extremely accessible, classes were small, and after I finished my major classes, I was able to work 1:1 with a professor to design a couple of advanced classes. Can be socially isolating because of the location, heavy frat scene, and at the time I attended, most students were wealthy Southern white kids. But, my education got me to a top graduate program and a successful career.

Sewanee is the best possible college experience I could have
By Cooper Y. Class of 2022, From Tullahoma, Tennessee
During my senior year last year, I applied to many top tier universities in hopes of attending one of them. While my test scores were excellent, my profile was not distinctive enough to separate me from the thousands of applicants each year. I applied to the University of the South because it was close to home and I knew it was a strong academic school. Sewanee ended up giving me the best scholarship among the colleges I was accepted. Since I have been her now for a month, I could not have been happier with my decision. I have found a fantastic community here on the mountain that is quite supportive yet also challenges us to present our best selves. My professors have been personable and love to chat with me about any of my interests or activities. They are also quite willing to work with students who struggle with the rigorous curriculum. Greek life really flourishes here without becoming overbearing. While the town of Sewanee is quite rural, the cities of Nashville and Chattanooga are easily accessible for any variety of visit. The McClurg dining hall often provides the best cafeteria food I have ever eaten. While some dorms are older than others, all are satisfactory. The Universuty resides in a very safe town and campus police are quite proactive of keeping students safe. I am looking forward to the next four years and I encourage anyone to consider applying and attending the University of the South.
