Georgetown University User Reviews and Ratings
Cannot Recommend Enough
By Gov C/O 2014, From VA
Georgetown is perfect for anyone who wants to study or work in government. It's location is ideal (I completed eight internships with government organizations, think tanks, PR firms, lobbying firms, etc.) while I was there and the connections Georgetown offers are unrivaled. In addition, each of my professors was outrageously qualified and experienced at each subject they taught. The students are unequivocally bright and diverse in background and thought. I wouldn't change my experience at Georgetown for anything. Many of my fondest life memories are there, both inside and outside the classroom. I miss it every day and always long to return. Hoya Saxa!

Best undergraduate experience imaginable
By TSC, From Washington, DC
Georgetown is a prestigious and compelling university that is truly committed to undergraduates and the undergraduate experience. With top-notch faculty, an incredible location (that combines the best of a fantastic campus, a college town, and a premier world-class city), an active and engaged student body, the opportunities as an undergraduate are limitless. The campus community is diverse, proud, and connected in a way that is integrated and unified, with a respect and appreciation for diverse ideas and approaches. Georgetown graduates have a network of Hoyas in every discipline and across the globe. There is no place better for an undergraduate experience!

Best School Ever!
By D.C., Class of 2022, From Taiwan
Georgetown's location in Washington D.C., its academics, and the environment is unparalleled. There is probably no other program in International Relations that can beat the one Georgetown provides. Georgetown is severely underrated by USNews and the reason behind this is because Georgetown's applicant pool is self-selecting since students have to fill out an entirely separate Georgetown application.

Great people, academics and environment
By Hoya, From Texas
Georgetown has it all. I loved my four years there, and I have a daughter studying there now who loves her classes and is making lots of good friends. To top it off the neighborhood and campus are beautiful.

Great Education and Experience
By Class of 67, From Williamsburg, Va
Accepted at multiple schools, I lived in Arlington, Va. and decided on the Georgetown University School of Business. The Dean of the Business School, in opening remarks, announced that graduation would be based on oral exams on all courses and advised everyone to focus on learning for the long term. When registering for classes I learned you could pay additional and take up to 21 semester hours every semester. I signed up for 20 to 21 hours most semesters and took the courses I was interested in and learned from them. I selected additional courses by asking facility and students in both the Business and Foreign Service Schools to recommend courses. Education not only occurred in the classroom but at a local coffee shop where students, who didn't live on campus, invited facility for a drink and to spend hours talking. I worked part time for the alumni association my first year and sold advertising for dances and other events after that. My Junior year I walked into the World Bank, several blocks from the White House, and asked for a job. Their reply was we only hire 40% Americans and we have no openings. I gave them a resume of courses I had taken and suggested I'd wait while they checked. Had an interview that day, was hired immediately and was the only American on the initial National Income Accounting project that produced comparative information on every nation in the world, a study still done for International Organizations. I passed my orals the first time I took them, graduated and went out having learned for the long term.

Poor quality education
By Aaron, From Massachusetts
Not the greatest faculty or administration. The nursing program is abysmal, and is full of prejudice. I was not impressed. If I could have gone back I would have chosen a better program. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Great for Sciences
By Student at GU/GUMC, From Washington, DC
Although typically misconstrued as a school heralded only for the humanities and political sciences, as a medical student, I felt the depth and richness of a scientific curriculum with not only pragmatic research-based pre-clinical education, but also incredible clinical preparation. The wholesome spirit of cura personalis permeates every crevice of the institution, regardless of discipline. Would absolutely recommend any student heavily consider this institution in their educational pursuits, even for those that the university are not typically renowned for. This certainly extends to classes taught at the undergraduate level for the sciences, and later graduate courses taught by those same professors.

An international school with a commitment to undergraduates
By Paul, Class of 2022, From London, UK
Georgetown is truly committed to its undergraduates. Unlike Harvard or Columbia, I feel that GU's energies are UG-first. We aren't an afterthought, but rather viewed as the beating heart of this institution. Georgetown combines world-class faculty, an impressively outgoing and down-to-earth student body and a worldwide alumni network of leaders in all fields of human endeavor. Georgetown's Jesuit values set it apart. The "cura personalis" influences its liberal arts; the Jesuit belief in inter-religious dialogue means it is the first institution in America to hire a Rabbi, an Iman and now a Hindu as a religion leader; magis explains the student body's constant push for personal and intellectual advancement. They infuse its theology classes with a deep skepticism: this is not a doctrinal school but rather one that deeply believes in studying religion from different religious traditions. Georgetown excels in its post-graduation opportunities: it is the 3rd best paid undergraduate in the US, the most recruited school on Wall Street, the most prominent school in the Foreign Service and the 2nd most represented school in the U.S Congress (after Harvard). Finally, Georgetown's location is special. Its setting in the Georgetown neighborhood allows for a safe secluded campus. At the same time, though, Georgetown enjoys unparalleled access to the D.C conduits of power. Many prominent congressman, executive department heads and secretaries have come to speak or teach at GU (Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Rubio, Kerry, Kissinger, Albright, etc). Georgetown is a school committed to teaching its undergraduates and pushing the boundaries of research. Its Jesuit legacy imbues it with a deep commitment to social justice and public service. A phenomenal school!
