what's available for Scandinavian studies?

Norwegian is the language on offer. Last year Nordic Studies which took the place of Scandinavian Area Studies, was reduced to a minor only although there is an endowed chair for Norwegian language. The on site Scandinavian Cultural Center has its own endowment and operates on university property but is also a separate but partnered foundation. Excellent place for community gatherings of all Nordic and Scandinavian groups, with lectures and a small but vibrant museum. University of Washington in Seattle does offer a Scandinavian Area Studies program up to a PhD level, and with the new Nordic Museum constructed within the past year, has excellent community resources as well.
