Wonderful school

As a graduate of BCU I can honestly say this was the best time in my life. My professors and counselors are helpful and informative and kept me on track to my goals. I wouldn't do anything different. Love this university!

This is not what you think

Just like my peer stated in the other review, this school is rich in culture but has a weird high school like atmosphere that is nothing short of a distraction to academic goals. Can you ignore the party atmosphere? the women dressed in barely anything at all and having regular twerk contests all over campus after 6pm? the night club like atmosphere by the phase 1 dorms after 6? I have seen good people come to this school and become something akin to a member of the bad girls club. the only thing that this school wants you to do is become greek. there is no leadership here that stays or stays passionate about the change. students are aggressive and major distractions in the classroom. your fellow students will not pay attention and then ask you for the answers or just curse the teacher out in class for assigning things. the student leadership is mostly just there to pad out a resume and get photographed doing anything positive to anyone but themselves. If i had a daughter I would NEVER send her here and if I had a son then he wouldn't come here. if you read this and you disagree then that's fine but spend more than a year at the school. don't pledge and well see what you say then. Mary Mcleod-Bethune would be ashamed to see the culture at this school what it is. Some Alumni from BCU, Hampton, and Howard told me that this was the "HBCU culture." I just cant agree with that. universities shouldnt ask for a bunch of money just to show you High School Pt.2. this is all coming from someone that worked two jobs on campus, worked with administration, and has seen firsthand the corruption im talking about. someone needs to really save this school and put its focus back on education and not just money and greek life.

Not worth going to

I was really excited bout coming to BCU but there are just some things that people fail to mention before you go there. Be prepared to be disrespected by faculty members and also be prepared to have immature peers in your class. The school has an overall "high-school like" atmosphere that forces the students to act as such. The school is rich in culture and rich and traditions but lacks focus on the overall goal and purpose which is education.
