The Shidler College of Business at University of Hawaii--Manoa (Shidler) offers these departments and concentrations: accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, general management, health care administration, hotel administration, human resources management, international business, marketing, and management information systems. The Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii—Manoa is located in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. Grad students can choose from many programs, including master’s degrees in accounting or human resource management; executive, part-time or full-time MBA programs; and a doctoral program.

The school’s full-time global MBA program allows students to develop a foundation in business, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region. Students can elect to specialize their studies by choosing the school’s China or Japan tracks, which include language courses. The school offers a variety of international internship and study abroad opportunities.

Shidler College of Business also offers joint degree programs that pair an MBA with a master’s in civil engineering from the College of Engineering; a master’s in nursing administration from the School of Nursing; or a J.D. from the William S. Richardson School of Law. Professionals with extensive industry experience can also check out the school’s executive MBA programs, which include a Vietnam-focused program and a distance-learning option.

For help with career advising, interview preparation and networking opportunities, Shidler College of Business students can visit the career services office.

The school’s location is perfect for active students who want to take a break from academics, and UH Manoa’s recreation center coordinates kayaking trips, sailing and surfing classes, snorkeling and hiking excursions, among other activities.

Students can also drive just a few minutes to downtown Honolulu, where there are many shopping centers and cultural events. The Shidler College of Business hosts many events, too, including lecture series, career fairs and a winetasting fundraiser.

Curricula Descriptions

Full-time program

The first year is focused on completing core courses, followed by: a) summer internship OR b)Japanese language and elective business classes OR c) Mandarin language and elective business classes. The second year is: a)electives and a capstone course OR b)Japanese language, elective business classes and internship in Japan OR c)elective business classes in China and an internship in China.

Executive program

The Executive MBA curriculum closely parallels the MBA curriculum content, but starts off with a residence weekend. The program focuses on highly motivated managers who want to increase their knowledge and acquire the skills needed to assume broader corporate responsibility. A total of 48 credit hours are completed during this accelerated degree program. A similar program is offered in Vietnam.

Part-time program

48 credit hours total, 29-36 month completion time. 21 core courses: marketing, finance, management, communication, ethics, etc. 21 elective credits used to customize MBA program to fit individual needs. 6 capstone credits including Consulting Practicum, where students work together in small teams to apply everything theyve learned to perform a consulting project for a local business.

Part-time distance learning program

the first year is the same content as our EMBA curriculum, and in the second year they can choose the healthcare management track. the courses are taught one at a time in one-month modules that combine one day of in person instruction followed by twice weekly on line synchronous sessions
