Full-time MBA students at UConn can complete their degrees in two years or less. Part-time MBA students can complete evening, weekend and blended courses at locations in Hartford, Stamford and Waterbury. Business professionals with some experience under their belts can opt for UConn’s Executive MBA program in Hartford, which uses a cohort format and takes about 20 months of weekend classes to complete. The UConn School of Business also offers master's programs in accounting, financial risk management, human resource management, and business analytics and project management.

For post-graduation plans, UConn grad students can consult the career services office, which provides job listings and helps students with interviewing, resumes and negotiations, among other services. IBM, Aetna, Prudential Financial, GE Capital, Pitney Bowes and Walmart are among the employers who have hired UConn School of Business graduates. Notable alumni of the University of Connecticut School of Business include William Simon, former president and CEO of Walmart U.S., and John Kim, vice chairman and chief investment officer of New York Life Insurance Co.

Factors and Procedures Used in Admissions

Full-time MBA program

All applicants to the Full-time MBA Program are reviewed holistically. Our admissions team takes into account an applicant’s educational history, professional work experience, standardized test scores, letters of reference, interview, and personal essays. With this is mind, all accepted students are considered for scholarships and graduate assistantship positions (with tuition waivers included). These scholarship and graduate assistantship positions are competitively awarded each year based on merit, and those who apply earliest are the first to be reviewed for these awards.

Executive MBA program

Admission into UConn's Executive MBA Program is highly competitive. The most important criterion for admission into UConn's EMBA Program is work experience quantity and quality. The minimum requirement is only 5 years; however the class average is typically more than ten years.

Part-time MBA program

Admission to the UConn part-time MBA programs located in Hartford, Stamford and Waterbury is highly selective. It is based on three primary criteria: years and quality of work experience; prior academic performance, as demonstrated by grade point averages in undergraduate as well as prior graduate coursework.

Curricula Descriptions

Full-time program

The UConn MBA Program is a dynamic, collaborative learning environment where students acquire business acumen, hone their skills through practical experiences, and develop meaningful relationships with faculty, alumni, and professionals from a variety of industries and job functions. Our core curriculum is comprised of quantitative business courses in accounting, finance, marketing, operations, management, and strategy, which are complemented by coursework in communications, sustainability in the global marketplace, and business law and ethics. An innovative experiential learning milestone is one of the hallmarks of our program, which can be completed through one of our experiential learning accelerators, internships, coops, or special projects. Our STEM-designated elective concentrations in Business Analytics, Digital Marketing Strategy, and Financial Analysis & Investments provide our students with market-ready skills to excel in the global marketplace.

Executive program

The UConn Executive MBA program's integrated curriculum leverages local and global perspectives in a cohort-based, holistic program. A global business trip is required to experience first-hand how concepts and theories learned in the classroom are applied in the global arena.

Part-time program

Flexibility and adaptability are key features of UConn's part-time MBA Program curriculum, enabling students to design individualized programs to suit their personal and professional needs. Working MBA students move through the curriculum at a pace that is comfortable for them. They take one to two three-credit courses per semester (fall, spring & summer) and typically graduate in three years.
