Curricula Descriptions

Full-time program

Program Structure The International MBA program is a one year, cohort-based, full-time program with a global focus. Each class lasts for 3 weeks. Students attend class from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 8:30 am – 3:30 pm on Fridays over the 3-week duration of each class. A. PREREQUISITE BOOT CAMP CLASSES The three prerequisite classes prepare students who do not have the undergraduate level knowledge of business to be successful in the program. The three prerequisite classes are as follows: Statistics Financial Accounting Economics B. CORE CLASSES (21 units) The seven core classes in general management courses provide students with an overview of the fundamental aspects of business, which are as follows: IMBA 210 Managerial Accounting IMBA 211 Global Corporate Finance IMBA 213 Marketing Management IMBA 214 Statistical Decision Making IMBA 215 Information Technology Management IMBA 216 Human Resources Management IMBA 217 Business Law and Legal Environment C. ELECTIVE CLASSES (12 units) The three areas of emphasis (Finance, Information Technology Management, or International Management) provide the four elective classes for the program. The classes for each emphasis are: 1. Finance IMBA 231 Global Financial Institutions and Markets IMBA 232 International Trade IMBA 233 International Invest

Forty One Units: Orientation, eight required courses, four elective courses, Culminating Experience A. REQUIRED COURSES EMBA 210 - Orientation (1 Unit) This course provides students an overview of each of the classes presented in the program. Introduce the group to concepts and strategies related to critical thinking. Develop students’ critical thinking skills. Introduce on-line technologies for instructional-related activities to the students. Provide students the opportunity to meet each other and start to form group norms. Boot Camp (Online modules are provided 4-weeks in advance of orientation in preparation for the contact hours during boot camp) Foundational courses in: 1. Finance 2. Financial Accounting 3. Managerial Economics 4. Business Statistics EMBA 222 - Managerial Accounting for Executives (3 Units) A consistent emphasis on managerial accounting and reporting is cost identification, allocation and control. This course expands the traditional view of accounting to include an examination of the integration of the historic three tools with cost elements. This expanded view would include environmental and political costs, compliance with multinational reporting standards, tax compliance and treaty cost. EMBA 223 – Quantitative Methods for Decision Making (3 Units) This course presents how business decisions are now made in an increasingly competitive and complex business environment.
