Great School!

By Dad, From Illinois

Everyone there from faculty to students are very helpful and friendly which is refreshing. Very good Business school with a lot of opportunities throughout Chicago. Chicago is a great city as a back drop as well. What a place to learn and grow as a person.

DePaul is great

By J, Class of 2022, From Chicago, IL

I find it interesting how the majority of people giving DePaul a bad review don't even attend the university. DePaul is a great school! I love the city setting and the programs. Greek Life is good since DePaul isn't a state school you get really close to everyone. people are very friendly

An Actual Graduates Review

By Jordan K., Class of 2016, From CA

It's obvious after reading some of these reviews that people are just spewing hate, without even attending DePaul. Notice how these "reviews" offer no details about actually attending the University, instead just throwing out generic terms in poorly-written ramblings. As a graduate of the finance program, here are some positive things you can expect when attending DePaul: 1. Diversity in student body and degree programs – I made friends from all over the world in my program. This offered me the chance to develop my perspective on things larger than just academics. 2. Highly regarded academics – Utilizing my degree, I have been able to find jobs with CBOE, Societe Generale, and Franklin Templeton. 3. Life in Chicago – I can think of no better backdrop for a transformative college experience than Chicago, one of the hardest working cities I've ever spent time in. 4. Campus life – there are two campuses, one traditional college campus in Lincoln Park, and one urban (read: high-rise) campus in downtown. I had days where I had classes in both, commuting between them on the red line. Honestly, I miss those days. 5. Top notch (#3 in the country) theater program. Coupled with an impressive business school, DePaul really has a diverse offering. Since I believe in analyzing both sides of an issue and being honest about it (a core DePaul value), here are the cons of attending: 1. Prohibitive cost – DePaul is expensive, I transferred in after two years in community college in order to save some money. 2. Liberal arts programs embarrass the school on a regular basis. But again, if you're studying business, this won't matter to you. Overall, going to DePaul furthered my career in ways not imaginable when I made the decision to transfer. Take your prerequisites at community college, and transfer in once you know what you want to major

Really Disappointing Spring Visit!

By Mad Parent, From MO

We drove 11 hrs to visit DePaul for their spring freshman visit event for 2 reasons: 1) Because they have a highly rated program for IEP-type students & 2) they have a good film department. We registered online listing the Film Dept as the #1 field of interest, got a hotel room & drove up to find that NEITHER dept bothered to be available for this weekend's event. Really? We entered Film studies into your system as why we're coming and you didn't bother to tell us until we show up that morning? She loved campus & the city, but we can only take a few visits to schools and we still know nothing more about why we'd choose DePaul than we did before we left the house. Very Frustrating!

Great school for working professionals!

By Stan, From Frankfort, IL

I originally attended Moraine Valley Community College and Columbia College Chicago but landed a nice full-time job mid-way through my junior year and never earned my degree. I worked my way up the corporate ladder but always regretted the fact that I didn't finish college. I enrolled in the School for New Learning after several years in the workforce and transferred over many of my preexisting credits. My Faculty Mentor and Professional Advisor at DePaul were very knowledgeable and supportive. I can honestly say that I enjoyed every class that I took and liked almost every instructor (with the exception of two). The classes were very interesting and challenging and I was able to leverage those new skills in my professional life. I did graduate with my BA and I'm considering returning to earn my Master's degree. My son also enrolled and received a great academic scholarship, he will be attending DePaul in the Fall of 2019.

Great experience at DePaul

By 2022, From chicago IL

I know before picking schools I would read comments and ratings on different sites. DePaul def took a hit after the Shapiro incident. As a freshman I can say I do not regret coming to DePaul. If you're looking for a social school and city life, this is it. Freshmen year try and dorm at Seton or U-Hall. No class on Friday, most people are really friendly, and the city is your playground. Decent academics and party scene. Dining hall food does suck, but it's survivable for one year. A lot of safety incidents, but this is Chicago and public safety does offer stuff like free rides around campus.

A horrific school

By C. P., From Chicago

Lack of free speech, lack of solid academics, lack of solid professors, lack of affordable housing, lack of intelligent thought, academics not even equal to my High school. High tuition costs. Lack of many scholarships.

Top-notch education, unbeatable location.

By BlueDemon, From Chicago, IL

DePaul is a top-notch school academically. College of Business is located in the Chicago Loop, where the largest financial institutions are located. This gives the students and the University the opportunity to leverage that in their favor. Also, class sizes are small despite how big the university is, which makes students more engaged and allows professors to get to know them. Can not speak much of the campus life as a I am a commuter, hence my rating in that category is based on feedback from friends who dorm on-campus.
