SBU is truly one of the top research universities in America, despite being only about 60 years old. It's known for its STEM programs and having tons of pre-med majors, but its social sciences (economics, psychology and sociology) are first-class, too. Crazy low tuition, tons of things to do, beautiful campus, D1 sports, train ride to Manhattan... what's not to love?

Great school for STEM

Being located an hour from New York City may make this campus seem isolated, however Stony Brook is what you make of it. If you're the type that is outgoing and looks for opportunities at every corner and live in New York, then this is perfect for you. The STEM is amazing - however I do wish the Business School could be a little better, it is improving every day though!
