California Baptist University User Reviews and Ratings

Student perspective

By Robert' 20, From From Houston

I am a current junior here at CBU and have really enjoyed the connections I have been able to make with my professors and some of the students. That's about where it stops. The school itself has a culture that is very image based and has a skewed view of Christianity in my opinion. My freshman year RA told me when I tried to join my halls Bible study "I feel that you aren't in a good enough place in your faith to join the Bible study". The university does a very good job at getting people in the door I will say. They offer so many opportunities to perspective students, that's also where it stops. The university offers small niche events to students and doesn't advertise them well to the student body, the only way I hear about things is by knowing the people who put them on. Housing is a mess on campus. In the colony apartments there all have a balcony. They are also bolted shut because there have been multiple that have fallen, so it is a safety hazard for students and upperclassmen still have RA's that go out of their way to catch students breaking housing rules and create surface level relationships. While saying all of this I still would oddly recommend this school for the sole reason of the relationships I have been able to have with my professors. The class sizes allow me to feel comfortable asking questions and even visit with them during office hours and have really great conversations with them. I have grown so much as a person and in my knowledge in my field of study by talking to them. I write this review so people don't come into this school thinking that the school is something that it is not.

Parent observation & CBU correction for USNews & World Repo

By CBU Dad, From LA

As the parent of a junior playing a Division I sport at CBU, I am consistently amazed at the excellent education and lifestyle afforded to attending students at CBU. Classes have been very small for my daughter, the dorms are outstanding (my daughters had a full kitchen and fireplace), campus is beautiful and user friendly, dining includes on campus options such as The Habit, Chick Filet, Subway, as well as community recognized cafeteria. Professors are known to teach to the highest level driving the quality of education. The coaching staff are amazingly supportive placing a student athlete's academic goals first while adjusting schedules to make sure practices are tough and effective. At 33K a year for tuition at a private university, parents better snap this deal up now while they can. The correction to US News and World Report is that ALL CBU sports are Division I ; it's easy to see the focus and appreciation for CBU teamwork, student support, and involvement at all games and functions. I highly recommend CBU to all students

Amazing programs

By CBU Mom c/o 2017 & Soon to be Alum. 2018, From Evans, Ga

We have started a family legacy with CBU our daughter spending time as a student athlete with generous scholarship opportunities, as both a resident student her freshman and Junior years and then as an online and graduating in 2017 with her BA in Business Administration. I am mom and will be graduating from the Online and Professional Studies program in December of 2018 from the Early Childhood program and then heading to graduate school. It is never to late to learn more.

I love their team for volleyball in 2017. They made me believe in myself. And their food is to die for. Amazing.
