I have two children who went/go here. The coop program prepares them for the work world like no other school. They learn everything about resumes, interviewing, follow up emails, networking in addition to self reflection about their strengths, weaknesses and interests. Once they are working in a coop they have a solid 6 on this of full time work or really sample a job and a field of interest. A free kick at goal, if you will. My older child found a great full time job in her second coop-excellent pay and benefits, interesting work, excellent firm culture, great location. My younger child is having experiences in his coop that are typical of college graduates, he is developing a strong network of mentors and has several opportunities to be published in significant research journals. I have taken tours and been to info sessions at dozens of colleges and none give their students similar opportunities.

Exceptional engineering programs and diversity !

As a parent of a recent grad, Northeastern has hard, challenging and fun engineering programs ! And the co-op experience helped my daughter get a job she loves before she even graduated ! Amazingly, chemical engineering has over half female students creating a culture on inclusion and success, hard to find in engineering. The chemical engineering dept. chair, Dr. Webster, has done a phenomenal job ! Thank you Huskies !

Excellent for Healthcare Professions

I went to NU undergrad for a degree in Physical Therapy. The co-op experience was soooo beneficial for obtaining my degree and building experience. Not only did I learn crucial job skills, I also graduated with a bonafide resume of experience beyond clinical internships. The access to all the major hospitals in the Boston area was also key to my success!!

Absolutely phenomenal school

I have loved every second of my time at Northeastern. While the school is definitely known for its STEM majors, the other programs are definitely nothing to shy away from. As a humanities major, I encountered several professors who literally wrote the book on a field that they created. The coop program is also exceptionally well run. They take you from how to build a resume to how to apply and how to interview well all the way through what to do when you actually begin working.

The school is very friendly especially for the student services. Every time I had questions I would email relevant offices and will get response very soon. Students can have a lot of benefits even after their graduation. I really like Northeastern's facilities, very new and advanced. Students here are friendly and no discriminations. One more, my friends at other universities are jealous of the food of my school!!! I love International village!

Excellent academic institution

My son is a student at Northeastern and he has been raving about his undergraduate experience while in school and during co-op. His first co-op was at Harvard where he was a paid research assistant working with post-doc and Harvard professors. At the end of his assignment, he was a co-author of a published research study. His next experience was at a robotic company building next generation autonomous devices. Another excellent learning experience applying classroom work to real working applications. All these while getting paid and living in Boston.

Tougher than I expected

My daughters just finished her freshman year at Northeastern University majoring in computer science. When I review the Dr. Racket coding projects she had to deliver in her introductory computer science class, I was very surprise to find how difficult they were for an entry level course. I am a seasoned programmer with over thirty years of experience and I can tell you that they are maintaining a high standard for those who can make it through.

I attended Northeastern University my freshman year, and it's a joke. Sure, the school is prestigious and 'wE hAve coOP," but it's a depressing school to be at. The university health system is ridiculous, it's quite difficult to make friends, and the school doesn't feel like a typical college campus - it feels more so like a commuter school.

Best. School. Ever.

This school is hard and it's really exciting to go here. The atmosphere is strong and vibrant. The second I got on campus I knew that this school was full of the bright minds of the future. Also, we have co-op. I firmly believe that where you go doesn't determine who you'll be, but Northeastern is different. Co-ops put you above others who will be applying to their first job at the age of 22. Northeastern students apply to their first job at the age of 19 (on average).

The Best College Experience

Northeastern offers its students the best of both worlds. With its academic rigor and its renowned co-op program, Northeastern students get to put their studies into practice with real life experience. The student body is overall very career-focused, yet not overly competitive -- always willing to help fellow students, be it through interview prep, tips, recommendations, etc. That being said, being at Northeastern is nothing short of fun. Student life here is great, with lots of clubs and extracurriculars available. Since Northeastern does offer greek life, and many students choose to move off-campus after their second year, the party scene is definitely available for those who want to seek them out. As a current student here, I can wholeheartedly say that Northeastern offers its students the best of both worlds -- providing them with the real life experience needed to succeed in today's workforce, without taking away from the fun traditional college experience that many want to call "the best four years of their lives."

Northeastern's strength continues to be its leading co-op program which combines salaried working experiences at corporations with rigorous classroom courses. Funding from corporations and government agencies have also fueled increasing research activities, especially in areas involving multidisciplinary collaboration. In the area of entrepreneurship, the school has multiple organizations supporting the creation of companies through partnerships and mentorships within its network of incubators, accelerators, venture capitalist and legal entities.

So many opportunities

I've now spent a few years at Northeastern and I have to say it opens up a world of opportunities especially for someone from a low income background. They gave me scholarships to make it affordable and the sheer number of both on and off campus jobs available is fantastic. Co-op is really big here and so far has been great for figuring out what I want to do and making some money along the way. The campus is also a nice urban setting, if not a bit dense. The dorms and nice and everything about campus is kept so clean and nice. Being located in central Boston is great too and provides easy transport to anywhere you need to go.
