This is a very math oriented school but that doesn't mean you need to come here as a math person to do phenomenal. The reason for this is because most people who get the most out of this school are interested in the fields above or similar. The range of student skill and talent is exceptionally wide; many students are on the lower C end but then there exists many A students winning national ranked financial-trading competitions. The same can be said for the professors, who range from burdensome and unremarkable to cult-like and straight from the industry. Baruch isn't quite social, but its very competitive and highly awarding for those brilliant in math and computers. The athletics at this school are for leisure and hobbyists for the most part. Luckily, if you are a gifted athlete you may seek many of the local and even professional teams in the NYC area, which brings up the next benefit to Baruch. It's central Manhattan location is beneficial to part-time workers and especially interns. While there exists dorms, many students actually save money and benefit more from living on their own or sub-leasing apartments. All food is outside, there is no in-school dining anymore; they went out of business due to surrounding restaurants! College is what one makes of it, after all. Even if you are unsure what you REALLY want to study, I would bet a great chance you will discover the secret passion for math, finance, and statistics here if you are a hard worker, humble, and enthusiastic! People who are accountants tend to stay accountants, though. They think way ahead.
